Equinox 2.4L Ecotech

Like others have noted, the 2.4L EcoTech engine completely failed on me with absolutely no warning. The check oil light never came on. I was stranded on the side of a freeway in Detroit in sub-zero temperatures for two hours. My mechanic is still trying to locate a replacement engine and says it could be several months. I have been a lifelong GM buyer but after I repair and sell this vehicle I am seriously considering a Japanese or Korean vehicle with a better warranty. I am looking at a $5K repair. I am so disgusted and disheartened.

The Estimated Repair was $11,000. The car burned oil rapidly. The Chevy garage said that the engine failed due to lack of lubrication.

2015 CHEVY EQUINOX, 2.4L engine

I purchased this vehicle 4 years ago. I always took care of my car as with regular oil changes. Last week, my car blew its rear main seal. Oil blew everywhere. Pistons and rings are ruined. I had it towed. I was told $5000 to fix it the correct way. $2000 for a band aid fix. I am very upset since Chevrolet knew of this problem happening to prior years of the Equinox. Lawsuits and complaints all over you tube.

Why wasn't there a recall? Why wasn't this problem brought to my attention from the dealer when my oil was being changed? There was nothing I did as negligent. I was sold a piece of junk. I have filed a complaint with Chevrolet. Let's see what they may or may not do.
