WARNING: CHEVY SHRUNK THE SEATS IN 2018! We leased 2017 Chevy Equinox and were very pleased...comfortable and reliable. Unexpectedly needed to lease another car and leased 2018 Equinox from another dealer. We sat a few minutes in the lot and test drove for 15 minutes. Completed lease on this one in September 2018. Did not notice at first that GM had shrunk the length and width of the front seat from 22 inches wide in 2017 to 18.5 inches in 2018. They also modified the seat to a more aggressive sport design with angled side cushions that further narrowed width of the seat.
Any full size American adult should pay close attention the decreased size and seat comfort in the 2018 Equinox. The constant stop- start heavy traffic of tourist season in our area has highlighted the discomfort for us during extended use driving. Seniors and persons with disabilities should evaluate carefully whether GM's interior seating changes will work for them. Our salesperson did not mention that GM had changed seat design from the previous model year and we did not expect the interior to change that much in one model year. Attempts to come to a fair resolution in our opinion have failed with both the dealer and GM thus far.
