This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
This problem tends to only happen when the car is in motion trying to turn left or right and simply just trying to accelerate from a stop light or stop sign. It is very hard to describe what actually happens but it's like the car has a huge hiccup and it sounds like something is loose underneath. I have to lightly touch the gas pedal to try and avoid this happening. I get the warning light-service stabilitrack and traction control. I get scared at times trying to make turns because when the hiccupping happens, it delays the car for seconds and I try to press on the gas but it won't get up to speed. Needless to say, if it's possible, I try and wait for a good distance between me crossing and the cars coming.
I have 2010 Impala it keeps giving me the dashboard message eng power reduced service stupbilty traction control off when it dose this the car will only go 40 mph witch is dangerous on freeway going 75 mph with other traffic
Intermittent ABS, traction control, stabilitrak issues have been happening for the last few years. It startyed at about 80K miles. I have replaced the wheel hub twice due to a loose bearing. This significantly reduced the problem the first time, but has not resolved the issue the second time. It tends to happen when the vehicle is jarred (such as hitting a pot hold on a dirt road) or when turning hard to the right while accelerating. If it happens a few times within a short time, then the system will ABS, stabilitrak, and traction control systems shut down.
Reduced engine power lights came, on traction control light came, on it was hard to accelerate in the middle of a highway, car almost shut down, but I made it home. It has happened twice on the highway and turnpike. I thought it was oil but that wasn't the issue. It stops (the problems) after I shut the car off for an evening, but I'm scared it will power down while on the highway again. When this issue happens the car beeps, then the traction light comes on with warning and so does the engine light and reduced engine power warning. Always in motion, especially higher speeds than normal city streets. Such as turnpike and highway.
I have had my 2010 Chevrolet Impala ls for about one year now. It currently has 164,000 miles. The following problem started happening about 6 months after I bought it, during the winter months. While driving at any speed in any kind of weather (but happens more often in cold weather) two lights pop up, the check engine light and the stability track light. I also get three display messages, service stabiltrack, service traction control and engine power is reduced. Half of the times that this occurs my car literally shuts off while driving and a different message is displayed stating engine power shutting down. I lose all control of vehicle, power steering, gas etc. This only happens when going at high speeds, which is even more dangerous. I turn the car off, if I immediately try to turn it back on it does nothing, if I wait a minute or so it will turn over. At this time usually all display and lights are off except the check engine light. Which does eventually go away. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be fixed or a recall is in order. There are far too many people that have gone through this similar situation.

While driving and the car shuts down, when it finally starts the engine light came on, the passenger seat comes on and no one is sitting there. Ive had it checked out something about an air mass flow sensor, then the light came on about traction
When driving the traction control and stabilizer light comes; then the engine reduced power light car will just cut off in the middle of the street. This has been going on for over a year.
Pecking sound starts when door is open and get faster when car is started but quits shortly after. Will start pecking sometimes when its just setting not in use.
Message says "service stabilitrak" engine powering down". has happened while driving and when first starting. Many GM customers have experienced same issue across several years and makes including the traverse.
I have had 3 special coverage orders letters in the pass year on my car. !. stabilitrak light tc. 2.harnessthrottle body. 3. ignition key.I'm also having problem with my suspension.and power steering.I call GM and have taken my car in for by GM require and the services repair men said they couldn't find no codes on their scann.
The vehicle was in motion about 45 miles an hr when it began to suddenly lose speed once it stopped I was able to coast it to the light. I cut the car off an it started back up. I didn't understand why it did that so I proceeded to find a near gas station.. it started to run again and I proceeded to go home when it did it again (lost speed while the engine was running) still don't know what the problem is had the alternator and battery checked and both are fine.. this was very dangerous!
As I was driving on a state route, alerts appeared for "service traction control" and then "service stabilitrak" followed by "engine power reduced". the engine light also came on. I pulled over and shut the car off, waiting a few minutes before restarting. The messages stopped, but the engine light was still on. I drove a few more miles and approached the on-ramp to the interstate. As I accelerated to merge onto the interstate, the same alerts came back on in addition to "starting disabled, service throttle". shortly thereafter, my car became completely disabled and shut down as I was on the interstate- the engine cut off, no power steering, no acceleration!! thankfully, I was able to safely pull off the side of the interstate. I had the vehicle towed and the car started right up and seems to run fine at the repair shop. Worried when and where it will happen again.
At first it was when backing up and turning sharp. The traction control message would come on and a grinding like sound from the front driver wheel area. Later it included the ABS warning and would also occur after backing with turn and going forward at that moment. Now randomly when pulling out and the service air bag light comes on. Recently also the oil pressure low message and dummy light come on 3-4 times before stopping (and yes the oil pressure is good with correct oil, tires, pressure, brakes, sensors all check good). Best guess diagnostics is shorting in wiring harness that can not be located until it fails completely. However with grabbing with traction control when pulling out and air bag problems it is obvious this is a safety hazard.
My stability control light came on when I steered to the left. Steering was difficult in the vehicle and the steering wheel/ car shook at low speeds. Dealer was informed of steering noise after purchase of vehicle. Dealer did not recognize any issue. Rack and pinion was replaced at 50,000 by mechanic. Rack and pinion snapped at 90,000 leaving no steering ability in vehicle. Dealer and GM informed as this is a serious safety issue.
Lately as I am driving a message pops up on the dash. It says service traction control, service stabilitrak and service brake assist. Also the ABS light is on and the no traction light is on. The reason I am reporting this is because I am hearing people who have the same model but different year say they are the same problem.
