I Have owned many automobiles and trucks I have never had a Master cyl of booster fail. This should not happen at 68K miles.

My son was driving home from a college class. he was doing under the speed limit on a road in town. He saw a car a good distance away from him and pressed on the brakes to slow down or stop. Brakes did not engage, anti lock did not engage. He had the brake pedal pressed down as far as it could go. He rear ended the car that was in front of him. Now i know you are thinking every 20 year old would say it wasn't his fault but witnesses reported that the brake lights were on and the car never slowed down. The person he collided with could tell he was trying to brake but to no avail. We have seen other reports (now we have been investigating) of the 2014 impalas brakes failing. luckily no one was hurt as he was not going at a high rate of speed but I shudder to think what could have happened if he has been driving 70mph. When we had them look into the problem we received 2 responses. 1. We have heard about this but probably wont find anything because it is either a short or a software problem. 2. We couldn't find anything wrong with the brakes AT THIS MOMENT but that this problem could occur again. We are not confident in having our son drive this car. I would be wary of driving this car.

We are leasing a 2014 Impala and in December of 2014 my wife rear ended another vehicle due to the brakes failing. General Motors and the local dealership claimed there was nothing wrong with the brakes. Since this incident the brakes have given out at least 2 more times. Decided to share this now that I have seen someone else on here has the same issue.

I felt like the brakes completely failed. I had no control, driver I hit agreed I was not following too close and was in residential road. I was cited by officer since he "had" to cite someone. I hate this car.
