My 1992 Chevy Lumina started jerking one day out of the blue. Took it to a mechanic and paid almost $200 bucks for a diagnostic and they said it was the tranny. Took it to another mechanic and they said tranny was not the problem that my timing was off and a tune up should fix the problem. Did the tune up but didn't help!!! Took the car to a third mechanic for another diagnostic and he said it could be the converter so i had it removed and put a straight pipe in place. Car did good for one day and the next day same problems the car would jerk and backfire while the rpms would go berserk, the little needle would jump up to like two then go down quickly to one. Car died on me about seven times that day it would start on neutral but usually would die when i attempted to put it in drive. Im really tired of this problem i don't know what it could be or if the car is even worth putting more cash into. I don't wanna give up on the old girl because even though i bought it used the engine was really good and maintained and since i had the car ive always tried to take as best care as i could always checking oils and changing em and whatnot. Someone help!!!!!! As i type this the car which finaly had to be pulled to my house is still sitting there:(

Engine overheats, missing antifreeze, not leaking. This is not an electronics problem. I flushed the system and replaced the thermostat.
