A/C light flickers off and on and won't stay on Max air. I don't want to take this to the dealer. Does anyone know a "do-it-yourself" fix? I fortunately found a at home fix for the anti theft system problem.

Malibu LS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,456 miles

I have owned my car for 2 years i bought it in 2006 with only 21000 miles on it. when i first got the car for the first week there where no problems, after only owning my car for 3 weeks i started having this problem with my A/C light turning on and off (a/c turning on and off) i had the car looked at 5 times by the dealer ship each time the car would not act up. now 2 years latter, my a/c still shuts on and off, i have tried taking the a/c controller out and cleaning it and also having it replaced it only works for a week or so.

Is there anything else i can do???

After only 23000 miles the air conditioner starting turning itself off. You would feel hot air coming into the car and see that the light on the A/C switch was no longer lit. Took the vehicle in and was told the A/C Control Head needed to be replace. Of course it was not under warranty. This cost $294. Now 2 1/2 years later the same thing is happening. I am told the repair this time will cost $350. I can't believe Chevy can't make a switch that will last longer than 3 years. What a piece of junk!!!! No wonder they are losing car sales to the foreign markets. This will be the last Chevy I buy.

Malibu 4 Door 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

I bought this car when it had 31,000 miles on it. Around 35,000 miles I had a HVAC issue. The inside air button would switch to outside air on its own. Then the A/C button would flash and go off by itself. When I took this to the dealer I was told they could find nothing wrong with it. Luckily this was covered by the warranty (which ran out at 36,000 miles). The inconvenience of it was horrible and the fact that my car is now at around 85,000 miles and started doing the same thing again. I know this will costume around $600 to fix because that is what they put on the last forms when it happened. To me this says Chevrolet's components are not worth spit. I have not even hit 100,000 miles and I am having to replace the same part again? I am never buying another Chevrolet product as long as I live.
