Seat frame integrity is compromised. Seat is not secured to the running boards. Joints where the tubes are welded are compromised and separated. Appears to be a fatigue failure. In January 2013, with much argument with GM about replacing the seat frame, they finally agreed to replace it for a deposit of $300. This before GM had to go to congress to explain their lack of action for ignoring the design defect of the ignition switch. It's about 4 years later and I'm having the exact same failure of the compromise of the welds on the replaced 2013 frame. This time GM refuses to do anything about it as they say they already replaced it once! this is the same problem! I have pictures from the original seat showing the fatigued tube breakage. I have now had 2 seat frames on the same car and both failed. In engineering we call this statistically significant. GM needs to take responsibility for this poor design. It's just a mater of time until someone is killed in an accident cause the seat doesn't secure the driver. I've notice that my hips hurt from the seat slowing moving out of proper alignment.

While driving on a city street, I heard a "pop" or "bang" and then the back right side of the driver's seat collapsed. Seat is now unstable and moves while making turns. I'm concerned about the stability if involved in an accident.

A little over a year ago we noticed the drivers side power seat seemed to be moving at times. It has since broken loose from part of the frame. As long as the seat is in the down position it sits kinda steady. Any attempt to move it up or down causes it to become dislodged. It happens regardless of the motion of the car. About the same time frame, the rear door locks started acting up. Depends on their attitude of the day, they either will not lock or unlock by remote or switch. Only way to access the rear seat area is to roll the window down and reach in from outside to unlock since the lock button is not located in a handy spot. Could see a large problem in an accident with children in the backseat needing to exit quickly. Have not reported to dealer as the blogs have numerous complaints and stories that are being ignored by the manufacturer. Seat malfunction is a huge safety concern if any other bracing fails and car is in motion

I was driving 25 mph in a school zone when it felt like another car had crashed into me, I looked in all my mirrors and there was no other cars around, I then notice my driver seat had me sitting lopsided and something was stabbing me in the hip, something under my seat had busted, so I went home looked at it further and there was some type of seat gear that had come thru the fabric and that's what was stabbing me. I took it to the local Chevy dealer that I had purchased it from and they said it happened because the frame to the seat had broke and give me a estimate $856 just to fix the frame and that don't include the seat that the gears and ripped holes thru. I called the Chevrolet company and they said there is no recalls on the seat so there not covering any of the cost. I looked online and there is a couple hundred other people who have the same issues with the driver seat in the Malibu models from 2004-2010.thank god I was not on the interstate doing 70 mph or I could have been a serious accident injuring several others. My seat is now unsecured and unsafe rendering the seatbelt also unsafe because the seat is not place properly. My name is[xxx] E-mail address is [xxx] my phone # [xxx]S.S.N.[xxx] D.L. #[xxx]. Seats - front driver power seat, there is a bracket or brace that goes across the front and supports the seat, it is welded, the weld is broken, after doing forum and google searches this is a common problem for years with the broken weld, causing the seat to become unstable and allowed to rock while driving. Engine - the front engine oil seal or crankshaft pulley seal is prone to leaking, there is service bulletin out about this issue for a 6 cyl model, apparently the 4cyl model has the same problem. The fix is to have the seal replaced with an updated style constructed with a better spring and seal wiper. This can cause a substantial oil leak, even though this could not cause (to the best I know) a serious problem, it does cause oil to leak along the frame and onto the bottom of the engine and possibly onto the exhaust piping behind the engine. It also cause an environment issue causing motor oil to leak onto the ground.

I was stopped at a red light and a man who wasn't paying attention came speeding up and rear ended me he hit me so hard that my car hit the car in front of me and that car hit the car in front of him. 4 cars total. My airbags did not deploy and I am suffering from many injuries because of that. The man who hit me was going around 50 miles per hour. I believe with such impact that he hit me the airbags should have deployed. My face slammed into the steering wheel and hurt me very badly also I am concerned about the seat and the seatbelt. The seat I was in is all broken now due to the accident and I am also thinking that the seatbelt is also defective.
