A couple of months ago I first started noticing that the car has problems with acceleration. It is as if it doesn't want to switch gears. I'll be going about 25mph and the RPM is between 5 and 6. I'll let my foot off the gas, but it takes a long time for it to finally pick up speed. I'm very afraid to take it on the interstate after almost being crashed into on several occasions. Even on normal city roads I have problems with it, it doesn't matter the time of the day that this occurs, the problem is consistent. It will also either take a long time to accelerate or it will very quickly accelerate in RPMs, I'll go from a dead stop and press on the gas and the RPMs will shoot up to 5 and 6.

I have had so many problems with the car. Purchased used but in 1 yr have had to have sway bar, lower control arms, brakes, struts & mounts. And no one seems to be able to diagnose the engine wine or loss of power when accelerating. You can feel the drag in the car and it takes a while for engine to pick up and rpm rises to four when taking off from a stop. I use premium gas and oil change every 3 months. Not even dealer can find the problem that I take it in for, but they manage to find something for me to pay for. The wheel covers constantly loosen and rattle. The steel wheels leak and I have had to have 2 replaced. GM should really be ashamed of themselves for such awful products. Love the body style, but all else is so cheaply and badly built.

Malibu 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

My mass air flow sensor is bad, again, 3rd time in less than two years. Car has 98,000 now. First time it went bad was around 74000, I think, then, again at 88000 and now at 98000. I was told by mechanic that a part like this should not have to be replaced even once, really, but to be going on a 3rd time, there is something wrong!

the engine races, rpm gauge quit, while driving no power

I have taken the car in several times but they can't tell me what's wrong. From time to time the engine races for no reason, sometimes it won't start, then starts, then the engine races, RPM gauge stopped working. Usually happens after I fill up with gas. Lost power on the interstate for several seconds, engine started racing, RPM gauge stopped working then as quick as it happened it goes back to normal. Help!!

Malibu

  • Automatic transmission

My 2009 Chevy Malibu sedan has loss of power when accelerating, cleaning of the fuel injectors did not increase power or give me better gas mileage as I was told it would at the dealership that I purchase the vehicle from brand new with less then 50 miles on it. After fuel injectors were service it has a tapping sound under the right side of my hood that the maintenance tech's claim they cannot hear, yet it can be heard over the sound of my radio. Anyone else having these problems please advise. I need answers.
