My Monte Carlo suffered the same problem, Only with my car i had to literally be touching the car before the remote would work. After taking the car back to the dealer 4 times I finally got them to admit there is a problem... and its a known problem. They admitted there are several Impala & Monte Carlos with this issue. Its a warranty fix ( which is of course why they pretend theres no problem) They have to replace the receiver, key fobs and install an antenna booster. So far all is well with my Monte and I finally have some range on my remotes.

So go hound the dealer and tell them you know this is a known GM problem with Impala's and Monte Carlo's. Tell them you are aware of the replacement parts and you want this done on warranty.

Best of luck to you,

Mike
