I noticed that my 1999 Chevy Silverado truck had a crack in the rear frame on the driver's side when I was looking at my tires. I took it to a garage and they said that it is not just the driver's side that the frame is cracking, it is both sides of the rear frame. I found a website that the same year truck, that other people had the same complaint about their frames cracking and rotting in half like mine.

I think there should be a recall on the frame because it is not just one truck, it is multiple trucks with the same complaint. I feel that GM needs to fix this problem that I and everyone else are having with the frame.

Rear frame broke above both rear wheels, no excessive weight ever placed in this truck. Frame just cracked and broke. There was no rust still had factory paint on the area. Called GM to notify of them of a dangerous defect and basically told to bad. Went to the dealer in town. And they were suppose to stop out and no show so they blew me off. I love my Chevy and I have never hauled heavy stuff, never went mudding and never beat it. So I know at least 5 more people in area with same problem.

I noticed the bed and cab were rubbing and initially thought the body mounts were bad. When I checked I found the frame was cracked on both sides. I then checked on the internet to find this is a very common problem from 1999-2006. Chevrolet knowing of this issue has done nothing to recall or compensate anyone for there failure. This truck runs like a top and has been the absolute best vehicle I ever owned. Now I have a vehicle that is absolute junk with thousands invested and no way to recover my losses. I have never seen a vehicle where the frame comes apart like this. Chevy should be ashamed and a class action law suit should be filed.
