On 07/03/2018 this truck experienced a total HVAC failure - no fan, no heat, no a/c. Upon investigation, found the a/c control module under the dash located in the duct-work had failed. Replaced said module and everything worked fine. Later learned that this is a very common failure for GM trucks of this vintage. Is there a recall for this problem and if there is might there be any re-imbursement for repairs already performed?

I have read a lot of similar complains about the blower resistor and A/C panel control. When I bought the truck brand new the blower stopped working in number 5 position. I did not worry a lot because with the number 4 working was ok. After some time a burnt smell from the resistor unit started. I changed the resistor for a new one. now all the same symptoms again. I bought another new resistor and wire harness this year and the original problem is there again position number 5 does not work.

Then cool air out drivers side & hot out passenger side. Thank god I had extended warranty ,also $800.00 to fix !! I've seen several recalls (04-05's) on this system but they said mine covered not in it...BS

Driving down the road and my heater came on but the other side still blows cold air, you can't control it, But when I turn the truck off for about 10min and restarted the problem went away.

a/c blows hot air on the driver's side (eventhough controllers are set to blow cold) and cold air on the passanger side. Chevy issued a recall on a/c corroded cables, which unfurtunatelly does not cover this problem. When I called the Dealership, they told me this is a problem they see a lot. VOICES UNITED! Let's all complain and maybe they'll do a recall on this issue also. (for the record I have not gotten this fixed. The dealership told me that it was the modulator and I got a quote it's supposed to cost me $375, the part alone costs $300)

Silverado 1500 Work Truck 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 141,003 miles

When Driving, the AC on the driver's side get hot like the heat is on (but it is NOT). The passenger side remains cool and that side blows out cold air. Sometimes, if I pull over and restart the truck, the problem quits, however, sometimes it will "heat" the driver's side off and on while driving. There has been no rhyme or reason to what causes it and when to expect it to happen since it has happened at odd times, and occasionally only for a few minutes and other times I cannot get the heat to turn off no matter what I do..
