I have taken it to the Dealer where I bought it new in 2005. They have serviced it from the getgo. First it was the rear end whining, then rattle in front end. They repaired the rear end after 3 visits and replaced the steering shaft but have not fixed the rattling. I took it back @35900 miles still under warranty and the dealer said that he would have to call the Chevy corp to find out what to do next. This has been 3 weeks to the day and still @36390 miles and have not fixed it yet. What should I do next?
Dealer has informed me there are two issues resulting in suspension noise from the mid body / front end.
Issue #1 - problem regarding noise when turning the steering wheel. Claimed to be the "binding" of the steering column. There have been Chevrolet service bulletins issued regarding this. My understanding is the first Chevrolet service bulletin recommended lubrication, a later one suggested removing the steering column and "extending", or flexing it to re-distribute the lubricant and the most recent is a total replacement. The "extending option" cost me $70. Not sure yet if it worked yet because I am dealing with issue #2 which is the continuing suspension noise.
Issue #2 - suspension rattling which appears to come from the front end / mid-body / rear. Obvious at slow speeds on uneven surfaces. My Dealer looked the truck over today and found one torsion bar bushing almost completely worn out, thus leading to a lot of play and the most suspect cause of the noise. Supposedly, there is one torsion bar on either side of the vehicle attaching somewhere behind the front wheels (my bad one on the driver side, technician said the passenger side is tight). Suggested repair is replacement of the bushing. Have an appointment to get this fixed- $17 for the new bushing and an estimated 2 hours of labor at $70 per hour. The technician and service manager pretty confident this is the cause. I also have a cousin who works for a large metropolitan Chevy Dealer and he confirms they have been fixing finding the same causes.
I have the loose, rattling noise coming form the front suspension while driving. It sound as if something is about ready to give and break, or had broken and is rolling around in some other part. Also, I have a loud clunking noise coming from the front driver side tire area when steering wheel is cranked hard to either side.
Similar to other complaints about rattle or clunk when turning or traveling at slow speeds. My problem seems worse when turning slowly on uneven surfaces (barn lot, yard, etc.)
I investigated today and found excess play in steering box. I could rotate the steering shaft by hand with the engine off and the steering column unlocked. Mild clunk could be heard/felt when doing so. Off to the dealer I go. Also have an issue with power steering lines leaking. Truck has 17K miles on it.

Rattling noise when moving slowly over bumps. This noise occurred right after my warranty went out and now they want $140.00 just to look at it. This noise sounds like the shock is going to fall off but it is not the shock, does anyone else have or had this problem, please let me know what the fix was.

The dealer(s) couldn't find it until the regular warranty ran out and seem to "forget" that I complained about it from the first week.
I Love the truck and other than additional tire wear and the rattle, this is/was a minor issue once found.
