I have a 2006 silverado 4x4. I have only had it off road one time and it barely got dirty. The left front started making a chirping noise like metal on metal. Took it in to the shop and they said the entire left front hub had to be replaced. It cost 628.00 bucks. that was 8 months ago and now both front hubs are making so much noise I can't even drive it. Whats so sh*tty about the whole thing is where it was repaired at the local chevy dealership with the shop warranty. Guess what - they went belly up and shut the doors. So, I'm going to be out more than 1200 bucks for someone else to fix it, if i can even find somebody worth working on it. This really sucks. I really cant be without my truck for very long.
I have been left on the side of the road twice from a front wheel bearing. I had the driver side changed at 10,000 miles and the passenger side at 22,000 which cost me a hotel stay. Other than this I like my truck. Now it is making a faint popping noise when turning to the right. I guess it's another hub. Good luck
I have had both a Drivers side and Passenger side front wheel bearing go out, First one at 8,000 miles and the second at 10,000 miles, just waiting for another one.
This truck is a 4x4 truck and i have taken it to the dealer 4 times for the same thing and I have replaced the front tires and both hub assemblies and now it is doing it again, so i will not buy another one of these , but other than this truck runs fine.
