Response to Mike G complaint #1 from dealer - could find nothing wrong with the truck. However, upon learning that this occurred at an airport, they noted that this has happened to others at various airports and they believe they are seeing an OnStar problem. They believe it is continuously roaming and never shutting down. No method was proposed or suggested to fix this problem.

I have a 2007 Silverado and the battery just goes dead! I don't have anything else hooked to it, it just goes dead. I only have about 15,500 miles on the truck and this has happened three times, and the dealer just charges the battery and states that there is nothing wrong with it. They say if we can't duplicate the problem, there is no problem! Just keep having it towed to the service department!!! What a load of Bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I reported this problem to the Better Business Bureau Auto of Ohio and I'm still waiting for a response.

Then some asshole from General Motors Corp. calls me and states, word for word, the same thing they told me at the dealership. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... AND THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO BUY THEIR VEHICLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should have listened to my son and bought a FORD F-150.

I have a 2007 SIlverado bought in August of 2008, its almost 2 years old with 13,000 miles. The battery has gone dead several times. Mostly in cold weather. Now its really hot and I get in to start it in the morning and it was completly dead again, remote would not even unlock the door. So I hook up cables to jump it off like I've done before. The radio, head lights, etc... start working but the truck won't turn over at all. Had friend mechanic come and replace the battery, same problem, radio works but truck won't start. Truck is at dealer now trying to find out what the issue is, it has to be something electrical or computer glitch, its definatly more than a battery issue.

Update from Jul 15, 2009: Got truck back from dealer. They had to replace the bcm module. I asked them if they have seen this problem before and they said no. Truck was under warranty, GM paid for everything including the towing.

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,000 miles

I purchased a new silverado in August of 2007. Battery has gone dead for no apparent reason about 8 times. They have replaced battery twice, screwed with all the computer systems, onstar and on and on. They are really just guessing and have no clue how to fix this. This morning it barely started and the service 4 wheel drive light came on. This is a pile. Wish I would have bought a Toyota.

Silverado LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

I am one of the many who bought the Silverado. I have gone to start my truck now five times and had the battery dead. the past two times within two weeks of each other. As everyone else has stated the truck is supposed to have the run down protection. most times it seemed dead but as soon as I hooked up the jumper cables it was as if the battery still had power. I also got to replace the battery on the trucks one year birthday with 40,000 miles. Just out of warranty and Chevy said to bad! B prepared to replace the battery when you get up there in miles. my opinion is that there is something related to the battery not lasting and the rundown protection. Dealership has no idea how to fix! Aren't we all glad we bought a Chevy!

Battery was completely dead. No power. Jumped the truck drove it a while. Went dead again. Replaced the battery and it has been ok since. other than the occasional rundown system malfunction I think we all have! Chevy wouldn't cover the battery even though the truck was just one year old and just over the warranty period. Make sure if you are having battery issues you read about the battery rundown system problems other have reported. Still no fix but you can share in all out frustrations!

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

This has happened twice with no warning. I got a jump and everything was fine for 2 days and then it happened again but this time I had to miss work because of it. If Chevrolet has a problem they need to let the vehicle owners know about it because we sure do pay enough money to them to know. This is suppose to be the most reliable truck on the road but now I am starting to wonder.

Silverado SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

While getting the truck accessorized at a dealership, they informed me that the battery was dead. I purchased the truck 2nd hand but it's only 1 year old with 22000 miles. This has only occurred once but I am hearing that this is occurring to others. I have not discussed with the dealership (they will charge you 200 bucks to tell you they don't know what the problem is!!!!). If anyone come across a fix let us know. I have to believe that this will not be the last time it happens! I knew I should have bought a Toyota!!

I have had four problems with my 2007 Chev. Silverado not starting. When I hit the remote key entry nothing happens so I unlock the door and everything is dead. The truck will not even turn over. This is the LTZ model so it also has the rundown system and all four times the dealer ship has not been able to find any wrong. I am now seeking the lemon law since I bought this truck in July of 2007 and it is now March of 2008 and the truck only has 10500 miles on it.

Instead of retyping the same problem four times I just pasted it four times. I believe in my case the answer is lemon law. Chevy has no idea what is wrong with it. I will tell you this...have them tow it in each time because they say by jump starting it it will reset the computer. I have had to tow mine in twice and both times they were unable to get any information off the computer.

Silverado LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,900 miles

This vehicle supposedly has an automatic shutdown of lights, dome light, etc., when left off. Don't know if that component did not function or not. To the best of my recollection, the lights were off by the time my wife and I gathered our luggage and left to catch a plane. The minimal power to unlock the doors and turn on the dome light was still available when we got back 10 days later, however, as soon as I tried to start it there was not enough power to turn over the engine. The Service man who came to jump start, who has the contract for GM's warranty service, said he has seen quite a few GM products with this problem and dealer service can find nothing wrong.

Who else has identified this problem and have they found a solution?
