CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.

A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.

The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

Bought used from dealer. Have bought several vehicles there and am very satisfied with all other vehicles and service. I'm not even that upset with this problem. Thought something was up with brakes and asked them to be checked at previous scheduled maintenance, nothing found. last maintenance asked again check brakes young kid mechanic found leak from master cylinder that was dripping onto rotor and gumming up brake pads. extended warranty paid $83 of $900 bill. new rotors, pads and fluid not covered
