A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.
The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

One problem after another with this truck. One month after purchasing, in deep snow, the 4 WD fails. Next winter, the same thing. Now, with 21000 miles, and still under the 36000 mile warranty, both front rotors and brakes need replacing. But Chevy won't cover it. It is a maintenance issue. How do you maintain rotors? Dry them off before putting it to bed each night? $600
