CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an early trend of the transmission shifting hard, surging & jerking.
At the moment these trucks are still under warranty. However this transmission problem shows up right away with the average reported mileage only around 3,000 miles, so for now the 2017 Silverado earns our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.
Touch panel not working is an issue. The main functions shown on the screen can be selected using the menu knob on the front panel. Setting the clock is impossible.
The touch panel will randomly select functions such as navigation radio or any function available. This is this is really aggravating.
I read that I could replace the display panel for about $400 after market. I do not remember when I removed the display if the touch screen could be disconnected from the main display panel. When I removed the panel I ran a brush across the circuit boards to dislodge any tin whiskeys that may have been causing shorts. I reassembled and installed in the vehicle. It worked for about six months before it stared to act up again. These is a bad solder joint and/or connector contact. Most of the solder joints are under surface mount ICs. Really need solder reflow equipment to attempt to reflow the solder.
I will probably just remove the display and touch screen assembly and replace it.
