- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a surge or stall when in gear at a stop. Technician will find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0742. Technician will need to isolate if the concern is transmission internal or external. Technician will need to disconnect the 20 way connector at the transmission (C-175 for model years 2001 ? 2007 and X-175 for model years 2008 ? 2013). On 2006 ? 2013 model years, using a fused jumper wire, connect terminal R of the automatic transmission inline 20-way connector to a known good ground. Technician can now run the vehicle to duplicate the concern. If the vehicle still stalls the concern has been isolated to the transmission. Inspect the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid and valve in the main valve body. If the vehicle does not stall inspect wiring between the Transmission Control Module and transmission if no concern is found swap the Transmission Control Module into a known good vehicle after clearing any Diagnostic Trouble Codes to determine if the concern follows the Transmission Control Module.
