CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is fairly new & is already showing an early trend of transmission problems.
Owners report hesitation when shifting & grinding/hard shifting into gears. Some dealers are calling the condition "normal". Another owner reported his dealership replaced the transmission under warranty, but the new transmission had the same exact grinding problem. Design defect?

Nice little vehicle to purchase. Great on gas, maybe that is all she can do. At 8,500 kilometers the vehicle had some knocking sounds. I do both highway and city. Want to keep this car for the duration of the 84 month loan. In 2019 of August the loan will be paid in full. At 20,600 kilometers, January 19, 2014, the front drivers brake is annoying. The sound goes away when making a left turn only. Another problem, a defect, which is recall 13408 oil pressure switch leak part on order from Woodstock by Wayne since 12/27/13. That recall was at 19,603 kilometers. Still waiting. I like this car very much, but if she has bigger problems. Reading the customers complaints maybe I will get another few years. Sad!
Update from Jan 20, 2014: At 20.720 kilometers on January 20, 2014. On January 19, 2014 washed that front drivers tire and behind the brake. On January 20, this morning the wheel squeaked then stopped. Car went nicely. It seems some cars need extra attention and being a soft driver. I am happy for now. Hope customers with complaints will find happiness. Still a great little car. The vehicle I drive is a hatchback.
