CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is fairly new & is already showing an early trend of transmission problems.

Owners report hesitation when shifting & grinding/hard shifting into gears. Some dealers are calling the condition "normal". Another owner reported his dealership replaced the transmission under warranty, but the new transmission had the same exact grinding problem. Design defect?

I'm not sure how much I paid, but I was told to have the brakes "serviced". The problem with the brakes was never resolved, but over time the occurrence of the car still going forward with the brakes all the way to the floor happens less often.

It is still dangerous and would have been in several accidents, if I had not thrown the vehicle into PARK! Kinda ridiculous....

OK, so when I'm braking, the car will surge and push pedal back at you. Especially when you hit a uneven surface or pothole you won't stop. I have a small pothole when making a right turn by my house. WHEN APPROACHING, you have to make sure no cars are in front. Once you hit the pothole the car jumps and doesn't brake..
