My car ws not serviced to correct the defects which were present at purchased. This greatly inhibits my ability to drive safely and responsibly.campaign number: 05V379000 date: 2005-Aug-29 component: Service brakes, hydraulic: Anti-lock defect summary: Certain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles may experience unwanted anti-lock brake system (ABS) activation. This condition is more likely to occur in environmentally corrosive areas. This recall will be launched in the "salt belt" states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia only. Consequence summary: This can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash. Corrective summary: Dealers are to remove the wheel speed sensor and thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the bearing, apply rust inhibitor to the cleaned surface, grease the mounting surface, reinstall the wheel speed sensor, and check the peak-to-peak output voltage to ensure the wheel speed signal is within specifications. The recall began September 22, 2005. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463.

I previously filed a complaint for the rear seat belt malfunctioning but this vehicle has several dangerous issues..the throttle sticks and happened with my 2 children in the vehicle driving 55 mph..not fun! the outcome could have been detrimental. The parking brake does not work and has been "fixed" 2 times..it still does not work and will not pass inspection...the antilock brakes engage for short stops and the vehicle slides!! this is just unbelievable to me. GM must have many lawsuits in the works and many to come.

GM recall for hub bearing areas and ABS activation. I went to the Chevy dealer in Florida bob taylor and service advised us the repairs were not necessary in Florida. They did not inquire where the vehicle was located etc. We had to insist the recall repair be done. They did not even want to inspect. With our insistence it was done. How many vehicles have been turned away without inspection by this dealer. It is not up to the driver to decide on a recalls necessity. We complied but with dealer indifference. I am concerned about other individuals who would not have the legal background to insist. They will be told they did not comply when they did. No record would be kept of the dealer discouraging the service and the defense if this is linked to an accident is that they did not get the repair/inspection. This may not be the spot to notice but I am concerned to have this occur.

My Chevy 2001 Tahoe suffered an ABS malfunction at low speeds in the summer of 2004. It was repaired at a dealer. In August of 2005 I heard of the recall of 2001 Tahoe in 14 northern states for the exact problem my Tahoe was in the shop for, the remedy for the recall is exactly what the dealer performed on my car in July 2004. My Tahoe will be going back to the dealer 11-25-05 for the same problem again, GM has told me there is nothing they can do since I am not in one of the recall states. GM has acknowledged that this malfunction can cause accidents since it increases braking distances. I have already spent 300 dollars on the first repair and am looking at spending the same amount again.

I brought my truck to hawthorne Chevy for an unrelated repair. They asked me if I wanted them to do the ABS recall while it was there at no charge. I agreed. The brakes were working fine when it went in, but when I got it back the ABS kicks in every time I brake. Then they told me that I needed new hubs because the procedure ruined them and it will cost $700! this repair is not covered, they say, under the recall. I told them that I am unprepared for such an emergency repair so they showed me the fuse to pull so the ABS would stop. Now it does not function and I am unprotected by this feature. Nice goin' guys! once again you only went half way and fumbled the ball! I'm so glad that a gov't. Agency is looking out for my safety. Nice fix. Now it doesn't work at all. I will tell anyone who has a truck like mine not to have the recall done.

Unwanted anti-lock brake system activation on a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe. In reviewing the details on an existing recall (GM recall no. 05068) my Tahoe is exhibiting the characteristics described, where upon deceleration at low speed brake applications intermittently activates the anti-lock brake system. Unfortunately, I have been advised by a local dealer as well as Chevrolet via their recall hotline that the recall is not applicable in my state. I believe this omission of de from the recall when several adjacent states are included is arbitrary and does not adequately resolve this potential safety issue for all of those impacted, including myself. According to the existing recall, the condition is more likely to occur in environmentally corrosive areas and has resulted in the recall being launched in the "salt belt" states which for some reason does not include de. I can say with the utmost certainty that de does receive snow, and that the dept of transportation uses salt during snow fighting operations every winter, potentially contributing to the problem experienced with my Tahoe. Furthermore, the previous owner of the vehicle resided in pa, which is included in the list of recall states. To date, no repairs have been made as I don't feel the repairs should be made out-of-pocket.

The contact received a recall concerning the brakes. She took the vehicle to a dealer for E recall repair, and the recall service was performed accordingly. After completion of the recall repairs she discovered that when applying brakes at speeds of 3 mph or less the ABS will activate followed by a loud noise. The vehicle stops but at extended stopping distance. She contacted the dealership, but they could not offer any explanation. The regional office was contacted regarding this situation and she was waiting for a response. No further repairs or corrections have been made.. the contact stated the problem has been taken care off.

I own a 2001 Tahoe, purchased from ed bozarth Chevrolet in grand junction, Colorado. During late July or early August, I heard a tv news story saying that Tahoe including my year and type had been recalled due to a corrosion problem affecting the anti- lock braking of the vehicle. At that time I called the dealership and was told that there was no recall he/they knew of and therefore no problem. On October 4, 2005, I pulled up your website and found a service bulletin advisory # 05068 regarding the above situation. I then clicked on the get summary button and saw that there was a recall on this situation. I called the dealership again and was again advised that there was no recall on my truck by the service manager. He also stated that they would find out right after a media announcement which is inconsistent with the first conversation I had with him (at that time he indicated that the media always"jumped the gun). So the question is, is there a recall or not and how do I get my truck fixed if necessary?

Low speed anti locking brakes activate and vehicle doesn't stop. A recall has been issued to correct problem, but I've already had that done once, and am having the problem again!!!! I don't believe the recall fix issued by GM will correct the problem, , just prolong it, causing additional accidents.

At low speeds, anti- lock brakes activate. This causes brake failure and increased stopping distances. Because of many near accidents, we have since pulled out the anti- lock brake fuse. This way the brakes will at least stop the vehicle.

I own a 2001 chev Tahoe, when braking at low speeds the car will not stop. On several occasions we have nearly hit other cars especially when pulling into parking spots. Once pulled into driveway at home and hit wife's car. Not much damage was done but one of these times I felt like something was going to happen. I took it to a shop the said it was a faulty right front wheel sensor. Replaced bearing/hub assembly with labor $429. Now three months later it is doing it again although not near as often. Thinking its the other side"?" don't feel safe driving vehicle. Please help.

Anti lock brakes activated during normal stopping conditions. Truck does not stop as quickly since brakes are not applied as normally they would be. Dry conditions, normal road conditions. Leads to longer distances to stop since anti-lock is being applied when it is not necessary and should not be. Can seem like truck is not going to stop since the stopping distance is longer than what the driver is accustomed to.

The consumer complained about ABS brake problem. At low speeds when trying to stop the brakes stuck as if activated. This resulted in extended stopping distance. Consumer called dealer, and dealer indicated that wheel speed sensors were corroded due to road salt. Consumer has not contacted Chevrolet/GM. ABS brakes engage at any speed under 10 mph. I am aware of the Canadian recall on this model for the same problem and don't think that I should be responsible for paying to fix a manufacturer defect myself. I have pulled the ABS fuse and completely disabled ABS braking.

2001 Chevy Tahoe lt 4WD, 5.3L ABS brakes activate without warning (intermittently) and when they should not be activating, under 10 mph when coming to stop, increasing stopping distance. ABS light works but does not come on. 96000 miles on vehicle. No corrective action has been taken at this time, as I have been researching possible causes of this problem. I have just learned that GM has issued a recall for this problem in Canada.

1) 2001 Chevy Tahoe - antilock brakes engage any time brakes are applied at low vehicle speed (under about 5 mph). Multiple events in stop-and-go traffic lead to loss in brake pressure. 2) typical consequence is annoyance and increased stopping distance at low speeds, worst event was loss of brake pressure during stop-and-go traffic leading to "bump" of vehicle ahead, no damage, no injuries. System requires manual pumping of brake pedal to restore pressure after 2 or 3 braking events in a short time span (2-5 minutes). 3) problem still exists, as GM has no recall for this problem in us, only Canada.
