This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I came out to start my car one day and noticed that my dash board cracked in two places. It seems like it happened over night theres a huge crack splitting into another one above my steering wheel and another crack on the crease of the passenger side air bag which is causing it to lift and looks like it could set off the airbag unexpectedly. Very dangerous especially as I have children in the car on a daily basis.
In 2013 I noticed small cracks on the dash around the top corners of the passenger airbag. Since then, I will hear random "popping" sounds as new cracks develop on the dash above the instrument panel. There's about 3 inches left before the entire thing cracks open. There's a semi-circle piece now missing from the dash because the crack opened up entirely and the piece is now rattling somewhere in the dash... after a particularly loud crack, I noticed the passenger airbag light will intermittently come on. This is the light that says whether it's "on or off." Most of the time it will not come on, even with a person clearly sitting in the passenger seat. I'm afraid the airbag will either fail to deploy or randomly deploy...
The dashboard has 2 cracks in it that randomly showed up, 1 in at the top left corner on the pasenger side by the air bag and the other the top left side of the drivers side above the instument panel and its getting larger by the day.
This the 2nd time mine dashboard has cracked on paassenger side of mine 2010 Tahoe. The 1st time serra Chevrolet fixed at no cost to me. This time that said that it would be over a $1,000 dollars. I do not think I should have to pay this, I park in mine garage. I would like to be able to go get it corrected at no cost to me. I just saw that it had happen, there were no accidents.
The dashboard is cracking in several places. One location is right above the instrument cluster. The other is around the passenger side airbag. This is a safety hazard as an airbag deployment could result in plastic breaking free and become flying projectiles within the cabin. Like many other vehicles with this same issue, the vehicle is well maintained, garage kept, and in good working order. The way that GM designed the dashboards and the materials used for the dashboards are the reason for this issue.
The passenger side front interior chrome door handle has begun peeling which results in a sharp edge on the door handle which results in minor cuts on human hands when a person pulls on the handle to open the door. This is the same issue experienced with 2007 Chevy Tahoe which resulted in NHTSA ea 10004. NHTSA ea 10004 resulted in Chevrolet extending warranty on this issue for 100,000 miles or 10 years. I contacted Chevrolet about this issue with 2010 Tahoe and they are not willing to extend the warranty on this model without NHTSA enforcement. The driver side front handle had the same problem in 2012. GM fixed that handle for free because car was under 36,000 mile / 3 year warranty. Online search reveals that other post- 2007 model Tahoe owners are having same issue. Since issue is with door handle, vehicle is stationary when door handle is used.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling noise. The contact noticed that the center of the dashboard was cracked above the instrument panel and near the passenger and front air bags. The contact was concerned that the air bag could deploy. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.

At 60,000 miles vehicle developed a cracked dash near passenger side airbag. Approximately 4,000 miles later a second crack has appeared forward of the gauge cluster and is growing. This is a safety concern if pieces of sharp plastic fly loose and cause injury.
Dashboard is cracked in multiple places and GM refuses to replace it. One major crack if from the airbag cover forward. I am in fear of the airbag deploying and pieces of plastic dash flying all over the place. I am one of thousands who have these cracks but GM is refusing to replace them.
Driving along one day at 45 mph and the dashboard just cracked. Mine has cracked over the instrument panel. I have a friend who has the same crack as well as a crack over the air bag on the passenger side. The cracked dash is a known problem that needs to be corrected, I am also concerned what may happen if the air bag goes off with what is obviously a brittle dash.

The contact stated that there was a petition for a recall. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
My dash board is cracked over the instrument cluster, and around the passenger air bag. The instrument panel crack appeared right at 42,000 miles, and the passenger air bag crack happened at 51,000 miles. My Chevy dealer says it is "cosmetic" so they will not cover any of the repairs, even though I am still under the "certified pre-owned" warranty. But it's going to be more than cosmetic if that air bag ever goes off. It is going to send plastic shrapnel every where. The dealer quoted me $900 to replace the dash, and says they would be putting the same dash back in, so it would more than likely just crack again. I am on a face book page (GM Yukon and Tahoe cracked dash) with 576 members that have the exact same problem. Something needs to be done about this.
The passenger door handle broke from the screw housing and not the handle itself. Chevy's response: Pull too hard on door handle, $ 200 repair cost to replace handle. The dashboard in front of the steering wheel started cracking and running towards the steering wheel. Chevy's response: Some time the heat will do that. $ 950 repair cost for new dashboard. My Tahoe is in top shape, washed twice a week inside and out and is garaged" I don't know why the simple things are so cheap"
