Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags) was received in May. After contacting the dealer and the manufacturer on multiple occasions, the contact was informed that the parts needed for the recall remedy were still not available and no estimated time for receiving the parts could be provided. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The dashboard has cracked over the airbag and if the airbag deploys there will be shards of plastic propelled as shrapnel throughout the car. The crack appeared after using the defrosters on a cold day. There was no impact to the dashboard nor any weight placed on it. It was just a "crack" sound and it appeared.
I noticed that the dash in my 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz is cracked above the air bag on passenger side. I also have read where this is something that is happening to lot of Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon etc. This should be unacceptable for the amount of money I and many other people spend on these vehicles. Something should be done about this. My Tahoe stays garage kept out of the sun and this still happened.
The dashboard on my 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe has two severe cracks...one above the instrument panel and the other beside the passenger side airbag. It would seem that this crack could interfere with the effectiveness of the airbag. This is a known issue with these vehicles.
Purchased vehicle in October 2015. Did not see a crack at time of purchase. Was wiping down the dash one day and noticed a small crack up the center of the steering column. That was mid January. Has now cracked from the middle above the steering column across the dash to the left side corner of the air bag compartment. Dash is unstable. Concerned it will cause airbag to go off prematurely. If in an accident and the airbag were to deploy could send pieces into passengers like shrapnel.

2010 Tahoe ltz dash is cracking above the instrument panel and on the passenger side at the airbag site. This has happened over time, the dashboard bounces up and down even on smooth roads.
Dashboard above speedometer hump cracked. 6 months later a crack on passenger and driver side by airbags cracked. The cracks are continually getting longer. A total of 3 cracks.
Tahoe dash is cracking in two spots. The first is on the corner of the passenger airbag. A very dangerous spot for a jagged edge to be next to an airbag. The 2nd is a much larger crack in the dash that appeared a year later over the instrument hump. I see many cases of Tahoe's and Suburban's online with the same problem. When I see another Tahoe in a parker lot, I always check, and 9 out of 10 times they have the same cracks in the same spots. When I called GM they asked me to take it to a dealership to be looked out. The dealership quoted me $500 to fix. It's time for Chevrolet to acknowledge that they messed up and take responsibility.
I came out to start my car one day and noticed that my dash board cracked in two places. It seems like it happened over night theres a huge crack splitting into another one above my steering wheel and another crack on the crease of the passenger side air bag which is causing it to lift and looks like it could set off the airbag unexpectedly. Very dangerous especially as I have children in the car on a daily basis.
Dash has cracked in two places. One connecting to the air bag and one over the steering wheel. I noticed it about 6-8 months ago (October 2015) and attempted to glue it...it is just getting worse and the crack over the steering will is growing.
Three large (and growing) cracks in my dashboard. One around the housing of the airbag. The other two are above the steering wheel. Very concerned that if air bag deploys, dash material from broken piece may become a projectile or puncture the airbag not allowing it to work. I see GM says it is a know design defect but there is no recall. Chevrolet dealer told me it is #1 repaired item on Tahoe.
The dash at the corner of my passenger side airbag cracked and now the entire dash rattles. I am worried about how this affects the airbag now. The dash was vibrating so much and it just keeps getting worse. I have looked online and apparently, I am not even close to being the only one with this problem. Please help!
My dash has cracked in multiple places around the passenger airbag. I have seen this on every Tahoe I looked at when I was in the market and am shocked that GM hasn't recalled the part or the NHTSA hasn't forced GM to correct the issue. What scares me is that the broken plastic might puncture the airbag or be throw if the airbag were to ever deploy.
