The dealership is asking over 7,000.00 to replace the transmission. I see there are a lot of 2016 Tahoes with bad transmissions

Tahoe LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

A little after 100,000 miles, my transmission would only go as high as 2nd gear. The problem got worse and I was limited to 1st gear only. Had to get a rebuilt transmission for almost $5,000 to get my Tahoe drivable again. It looks like the same problem that many other have had with their Tahoe.

Tahoe LTZ V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

While driving down a city street, transmission slips and/or does not catch on acceleration. I could feel a jerking motion as it searched to catch gears. There was also a real faint burning smell. This vehicle is my everyday driving vehicle as I still owe $38,000 on it. I would have never expected to have transmission problems with it to the point to where I now have to put a new transmission in it. I am still paying on the loan as it sits in my driveway and I am trying to save money in order to put a new transmission in it to be able to drive again.

I was quoted $5,200 for labor and a remanufactured transmission by our local Chevrolet dealership. I should not have to be replacing a transmission at 100,000 miles in an almost $70,000 vehicle. You expect a vehicle to last a lot longer than that when you pay that kind of money for one. I am very disappointed in this vehicle and in Chevrolet for not making it right. I have been told by my local dealership that they are having many problems with this transmission. I was also told about a Class Action Lawsuit going on against GM, because of this transmission causing so many people issues. I would stay away from this particular transmission in the GM vehicles. It isn't worth it at all.
