My 2010 Chevy Traverse with 1LT trim + was getting a steady 19.9 MPG and on 3/27/14, I gassed up and when finished, I reset the DIC and that's when I noticed the mpg was down to 17.7. Now this loss was over a two week period, well, I did not like that and as I was do for an oil change anyway, I took it to my local garage. At this time the car was just under 50,000, so I ask the owner to change the fuel filter and air cleaner along with the oil change to see if that would help my problem. However, having found that the fuel filter is in the tank and could not be changed, I was ready to accept it was going to cost me more to own this car.

Later, at home, I was researching this problem on the internet and found a guy with the same problem on " Traverse Forum .Com." He explained that he had taken his car to three GM shops and they all told him that 17.7 mpg was good for the Traverse, however, an older mechanic told him that the problem was in the Traction Control Switch and I needed to reset it, he had nothing but disdain for this feature. He went to the Freeway, reset his DIC and set his cruise and while driving, reset the TCS several times and found that his problem was solved.

After a couple of other people, with the same problem, tried it and said it worked, I decided to try it myself and yes it does work. My MPG is back up to 19,9 and I hope it goes higher, I only drove about 20 miles to get it to reset. GM, you need to listen and correct this problem.

I hope this helps other people who are frustrated with the same problem.
