Summary
On May 19, 2014, General Motors LLC (GM) notified the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) that it would conduct Safety Recall 14V266 to address fatigue and separation of the flexible steel cable that connects the front outboard safety belts to the seat-mounted pre-tensioner in 1.4 million Model Year (MY) 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook, 2009-2014 Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse (Lambda Platform) vehicles.The remedy was to inspect for signs of damage and replace pre-tensioners as needed.Subsequently, ODI has received 4 Vehicle Owners Questionnaires (VOQ) reporting anchor cable separations with no warning in Model Year (MY) 2010-2014 vehicles after the Recall 14V266 remedy had been applied.ODI has opened a Recall Query to assess the effectiveness of the Recall 14V266 remedy and to evaluate the durability of this architecture in service.The ODI complaints cited above can be viewed at www.nhtsa.gov under the following ODI identification numbers: 10967518, 11076704, 11113486, 11144704
