Check engine light came on and shortly after a tin clanking noise was rattling under the hood. We took it to our local mechanic and he said it needs a timing chain and that he is not equipped to do. We called our local Chevy dealer and they told us to have it brought it. We called them 3 days later to see what their diagnosis was. The service person we spoke to laughed and said they haven't looked at it yet but he can already tell me it probably needs a new engine for $6.5K. He told me that their service manager had one and these cars are junk. Since this is a Chevy dealer telling me these cars are junk and the joy in his voice to tell me this, it made me extremely uncomfortable. We ended up having it towed to a different mechanic and they did replace the timing chain for $3,500.00. I called Chevy to tell them about the timing chain and the woman in customer service that I spoke to acted like that is not normal for these cars and offered to send me a $100 gift card to any Chevy dealer but it cannot be used for repairs. Thanks Chevy!
