Uplander LS 3.9L V6

First of all let me just say that Chevy Uplanders are JUNK!! At 187,000 miles my transmission failed again after just having it rebuilt a year ago. The first time there was a lot of slipping. The second time the transmission "blew" fluid all over the road. I will never buy a Chevy on purpose ever again. At 70,000 miles I had to have the hub assembly replaced. I've driven vehicles up to and beyond 300,000 miles(Fords) and never had to have a hub assembly replaced. These vans are really junk. After putting $2,000 into having the tranny rebuilt last year I'm not putting another dime into this heap. It's not worth it.

Uplander 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 86,500 miles

So, our family Uplander was going pretty good until one day it started slipping between 1st/2nd gear. At first it was intermittent- happening maybe once a week or so. I checked the fluids and took it to the shop where they found no problem. Of course it was not doing it when we took it up to the shop. One day suddenly the car would not go out of 1st gear.

Sooo.....I had the trans rebuilt for $2900 and then a year later after getting gas with the van full of my daughters college stuff on the way to drop her off at school, the stupid van would not go into any gear except reverse. Again, the van is full of boxes, clothes and dorm stuff and we are stuck at a gas station! I called the tow truck to tow the car home, my mechanic said it was a failed trans (AGAIN) and as of now the van sits in my driveway.

Subsequently, we purchased a Honda and we will never buy a Dodge or a Chevy again. We have told everyone we can tell about the horrible service we received from Chevy...Basically we got a "too damn bad" when I contacted them. Needless to say, as consumers our money is KING! What we can do is let our future purchases speak volumes. I will not be walking into a GM dealership even if I was on fire and they had water.
