Car lost propulsion on freeway with "shift to park" warning and check engine light lit up. I was going around 65mph so I got enough speed to pull over to side of freeway and called a tow. As the car was towed to my house, the car started again. I drove the car to the dealership the next morning and they could not duplicate the problem. They just installed a new gear shifter switch. Right after I picked the car up on my way home, the car stalled on the freeway again a couple miles into my journey, with the same error.

I had the car towed and dealer could not duplicate the problem again. They wanted to charge me $2,000 to open up the transmission for diagnostic. I refuse to pay and there is no solution in sight. Contacted Chevrolet corporate and they said the dealer has to duplicate the problem before they can help. OBD read out error codes P0C04 and P0AC4. Right now, I have a car that can stall on the freeway any minute. This car is extremely dangerous to drive. I am surprised that Chevrolet does not take this issue seriously. I will never buy Chevrolet again.

Volt needs to do a recall. The car doesn't turn off. It just says "shift to Park" when it's in park and it takes about 15 minutes to get it to turn off by turning it off and on 6 or 7 or more times and squeezing the gear shifter many times. I see everyone has the same problem. Needs a recall. Please.

Car dead will not move. When starting getting 'Shift to Park' on the dash. Tried the easy fixes from online (lubricating the gearshift release button, adjusting the microswitch in the gear selector assembly) to no avail. Towed into dealer and found it is NOT covered under warranty due to mileage. Still awaiting final word on what it will take to fix.

Car has been fantastic up till now... but having it be dead on the spot is seriously SUCK with no way to fix w/out taking it to the dealer.
