I have been driving the car at speeds of between 15mpl to 70mph on country roads, highways and freeways when the engine simply shut off with no warning. This has happened 14 times during the last eight months between May 23, 2018, and January 10, 2019, 1/10/19 being last time it happened, although it has happened 14 times as indicated previously indicated. It was as if I had simply turned off the ignition. I have had the car into a dealership for repairs twice and neither me, the dealership technician nor the Chrysler agent the technician contacted has been able to determine the component part or system that could be the cause of the engine shutting down. On January 10, 2019, I was traveling on a busy freeway (beltway 8) kn houston tx and exited the off ramp onto 249 ((tomball parkway) when the engine stalled coasting to a stop in a moving lane of traffic with cars, trucks and 18-wheelers passing me at 50-60mps. I have attached a description of each time the engine stalled and repairs that were done and the work that was done on the car.

Initially the problem started a couple of months ago, the car just shut down while driving and did restart after disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it while driving at 65 mph 1 week ago the car just shut down. Thank god I was able to get it over to the shoulder twith no power steering or power brakes. It did restart after disconnecting the battery and restarting it. I called Chrysler and they said there was no recall for it shutting down. Just a passenger restraint recall. Last Friday I was driving along at 55mph when it shut down again. The car could not be restarted this time and was towed to Chrysler dealership in lakewood NJ. The service department is telling me it's my battery, because they are not finding any error codes. There was nothing wrong with my newer battery until I was parked on the side of the road for over an hour with my flashers on so I wouldn't get hit by the cars passing by me at 60mph!! does someone have to get killed before the stalling issues are recognized and repaired"?" I am still seeing complaints now, of drivers in the last 6 months who have just shut down like me. This problem is still out there and needs attention by Chrysler acknowledging owners when we come in for cars shutting down. This is not a low risk situation, , it is life threatening and doesn't need a tragic death to occur before Chrysler acknowledges the problem is real!! I'm now being charged by Chrysler close to $500 for diagnotic tests and a new battery, $137 for a rental car, ,, this is unacceptable.

My daughter was driving on the highway at 70 mph when the 2011 Chrysler 200 just shut off. Dash went dark, radio off, car completely turned off! luckily she was by an off ramp and was able to coast to a stop at the top of the ramp. The only thing that was still working was the brakes, thank goodness! the car did not restart right away. No electrical components came back on either with turning the key. About an hour later the car did restart. We took it to a Chrysler dealership the next day. They kept it for 2 days. They were unable to pull any codes from the car or recreate the event, thus being unable to fix the car and answer why it happened!

I got a alert oil change required (walmart) changed the oil made it home later went back out for the car to stall again same busy street, it started about 4 mins later, made it home didn't move it couple days. Mechanic put it on diagnostic said I needed alternator still stalling after new alternator. Haven't had the car a month! battery light still on after new alternator as well.

The automatic transmission has always shifted hard and now the transmission is having a hard time shifting into the next gear, it revs up and I have to take my foot off of the gas in order for it to shift. This seems to only happen in the lower gears. Once I'm above 30 its fine. The code that just came on is low transmission fluid pressure.

While driving on the freeway during stop-and-go, rush hour traffic, my vehicle's engine completely shut off without any warning. At the moment of the engine stalling, I was coasting with my foot off of the accelerator at less than 5 mph, up a slight incline, on an overpass and inside of a construction zone that was void of a shoulder to pull off onto. When I attempted to depress the accelerator to make it over the uphill overpass, the pedal was limp and nothing happened. The electrical panel in my dash was off, with the vehicle still in drive and no physical or audio signs of warning occurred prior to the engine shutting off. I quickly hit the brakes to avoid rolling in reverse down the overpass, shifted the vehicle into park and turned the ignition key to off. When I attempted the restart the engine, the vehicle started as if nothing had occurred. After driving through the remainder of the construction zone, I exited the freeway. After making a sharp, right-handed turn from the off-ramp to the local road, the emergency "brake" warning light on the dash turned on and was accompanied with an audio warning. The light remained lit for the duration of the turn and for approximately 500 feet afterward until it turned off. No other abnormalities were observed with the vehicle. The vehicle has slightly more than 120K miles on it and nothing like this has ever occurred in the past. This appears to be a common problem with the 200, especially with the 2011 and 2012 models. My engine is a 4-cyl, 2.4L. Despite this widespread hazard, and an early investigation by the NHTSA, no recall has been mandated. The rationale? because it occurs at a "low rate if speed". this is absurd. I was on a freeway overpass, inside a construction zone, during rush hour. If this not a hazard, I don't know what is. Please mandate a recall for this before someone dies on a train track or intersection.

"takata recall" my car currently has 66,000 miles. I was driving in the mountains and the engine light and ets light lit up. More importantly my speed was affected. Since then, this has happened over 6 times. 2nd, was wet highway conditions. 3rd, and 4th on the highway with perfect weather, driving at 75 mph both engine and ets lights came on as well as parking brake light and car reduced speed to 55 mph before I could speed up. 5th, entering a street at a complete stop, turned right and sped up because of oncoming traffic. Speed reduced to 20 mph and I almost was rear-ended. After this near collision, I took to a Chrysler dealership. For two weeks, they could not replicate the problem and therefore had no solution. I drove the car with the tech and could not replicate the problem. That same evening I was backing up from a parking space and both lights came on and my speed was affected until my next stop. I stopped at a gas station and when I re-started the engine light remained on, but the ets light went out. My speed was no longer affected. The next morning 5/24/17 I started my car and neither light stayed on.

The engine died when idle at a traffic light. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine. This also happened while I was in front of a railroad track. I was very afraid that that car would not start. I was able to restart the vehicle after I had calmed myself. This is is very dangerous so I took it to have diagnostics performed at dealer. The vehicle report showed no computer codes indicating failure.

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler 200. While the contact's girlfriend was driving at low speeds through a parking lot, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Several hours later, the vehicle stalled again and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed, but the contact replaced the battery and alternator himself. The failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler 200. Whether the vehicle was parked or while driving at any speed, the thermostat indicator remained illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and "thermostat error" displayed on the instrument panel. The mechanic stated that the coolant ran non-stop into the engine; therefore, the engine could not warm up the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

After 5 years, I discovered that there is a star issue on this car with casting sand contaminating the radiator, cooling and heating systems. The dealership wants to charge me $2200 to fix even though this is a known issue since before I purchased the car. It came out in February 2011. Star issue S1109000002. First my ac did not work. The dealer replaced. Then my heat did not work but dealer said it was contaminated with casting sand and it is a known issue and it is not fair that you have to pay but the extended warranty will not repair if contaminated. This is a known Chrysler problem from the get go but not quite a recall. Now people are trying to sell 5 year old cars for parts only. There will be certain deaths from this issue when the engine eventually seizes up from all this contamination and causes crashes. The service manager stated that the fix actually does not really fix the cause. It will happen again!!!! I said why doesn't the dealership put in the preventive maintenance suggested in the star issue and he said because it does not happen to every car. So beware buying a 2011 Chrysler 200 because it is basically a five year car period. The star issue number S1109000002 is causing engines to seize up due to large contamination throughout the HVAC system, radiator, and engine as it spreads into everything. It is like driving a ticking time bomb that has no heat! it has not been a safety problem yet but as these vehicles get to be my mileage, these issues can become quite serious, particularly if they do not have it monitored by a dealer and the engine just freezes on the highway while driving because it is completely contaminated with sand. I paid $30,000 for a five year car and dealer will not honor extended warranty so I must drive a car that is not safe to drive anymore. There is also a current recall that airbags and seatbelt do not work in accident.

Pulling onto a major busy highway my car shut off completely and would not restart. After spending $533 dollars in June for a electronic throttle control sensor, I'm now being told I have to pay $1300 to have the totally intergrated power module replaced which afterwards I may have to replace a power sensor. Of course, they won't know if the 3rd part is need until they replace the 2nd.

Driving 60mph on the interstate. Slowed to 45-50mph for traffic congestion. Tried to accelerate again but gas pedal didn't respond. Didn't realize engine had stalled. Drifted over to slow lane to try to stop. Power steering and brakes went out. Put it in neutral and turned the ignition. Was able to get off the highway and drive to the dealership for repairs.

The engine light comes on and then the electrical light; the car has stalled while in park; yesterday the car stalled while in drive, acceleration would not work and the car stalled while in the middle of the road; after turning off for a minute; it restarted; but the lights are still on indicating a problem; this is a very dangerous defect; I have read others have had this problem and it is being investigated; why is there not a recall on this safety issue?
