CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.
The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

2015 Chrysler 200 have had nothing but trouble with the car since purchase. Transmission runs very rough, car jerks, shifts gears unexpectedly, engine shuts off while driving. 9/29/17 engine shut off while driving and car hit a curb. Have taken to the dealership over and over and they say nothing is wrong with the car and have not noted in my file that I have complained about transmission problems. Was contacted by Chrysler engineers that were doing a study on the transmission problems and wanted me to test drive a newer model to compare. They admitted Chrysler knew about problems with this model but have been unable to get Chrysler to admit or buy back the vehicle
Transmission makes hard shifts. It is the 9 speed automatic transmission. Vehicle has the 3.6 V6. Hard shifts come at any speed. Between I think 3rd and 6th gear. It doesn't matter if your are casually driving or press on the accelerator to speed up fast. It is a jolt that you never expect. We complained about it once. They said they had done an update and it seemed better. Now it is out of the bumper to bumper warranty and it is doing it again rather frequently. Like 3-4 times a day. Unsure what to do. When it happens it feels like the transmission is going to fall out. Feels scary. Usually going straight probably between 25-40 mph. I selected date below. But this has occurred since about 3 months after purchase and continues.
Bought new. Car has 37000 miles so out of 36000 mile warranty. Engine just started cutting off while driving. Nearly caused an accident several times. Dealer says there is no recall even though we showed them there is a recall for this issue.
While turning onto the on ramp of the freeway one morning, the car engine shut off. I had to quickly get out and push the car out of the lanes. The car prompted shift to park and attempted to restart. After some time approximately 2 to 3 minutes trying to start, the vehicle started back up. The lights were dimmer and power was weak. Drove about a mile (at 32mph as the max speed the car would allow) and it shut off again. Once again prompting to shift to park. The vehicle restarted with no issue this time. Made it to the front of my house, 3 miles away from where it stopped the second time, and it stopped again.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift out of gear when attempting to drive. Also, the engine and service parking brake warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,143.

Transmission is unsafe. Very choppy. Stalls on acceleration which is very dangerous to pass. "hesitates". will sometimes shift into neutral. "lurches" forward. Very obviously not a good transmission, passengers in the car are very aware of the choppy transmission gear changes.
Engine intermittently turns off whenever I slow dow, turn a corner or stop. A indicator comes on stating T9 put the car in park to start when I was I'm drive..happens without any warning
Vehicle wouldn't accelerate when pedal was pushed, then jerked and took off. Vehicle began accelerating quickly while in cruise control mode. Started having problems with the push start button, wouldn't not do anything when pressed.
Ive been havng problems with my vehicle since I first purchased. The car slips gears and takes off and stagger while on highway. Ive made several attempts to have problem fixed by Chrysler. I was told that the transmission doesn't match with software and Chrysler is looking to fix issue in the future. Thecar feels really unsafe. After doing research, I also noticed that this car was sold to me way above price that was offered to others. I also feel that the contract is no longer valid as the car dealership requested a certain amount to pay off my trade in. I later found that the amount was nearly $300 less than the requested amount. I was told that any excess fund will be released to me. Its been over a year and I have yet to receive the refund.
Mostly hwy driving~engine light comes on, transmission light is on and vehicle speed decreases, unable to accelerate. When I come to a complete stop, most times the screen will reset, the engine light will go off with in the next day or two. Stored codes have been P1da9, P073E. I've taken the care to the dealer, software reset-only solved the problem for a short time. Searched for recall by vehicle and there are at least 7, but when searching by VIN # states none. This has happened numerous time but I will enter most recent date with complaint

I have had my Chrysler 200 for over a year now and when I drive and push pedal to accelerate and seems like it goes to neutral so engine revs and suddenly kicks into gear I am concerned that this will lead to a crash also today a light came on indicating to check passanger airbag. At this point I do not feel safe in my car and it is the only vehicle I own
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while being operated at low speeds. The contact also stated that the gear shifter did not operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to atlanta West where the diagnostic results were not disclosed. The battery was replaced, but the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle still experienced hesitation. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 37,029.
Transmission shifting issues on 1st gear and when downshifting this is a known problem even in the dealership the mechanics said this is a recall in progress but no website not even mopar shows this recall; it is a known issue and Chrysler is evading it. I have taken my car there twice and they do nothing and tell me to wait for the recall letter; it is unacceptable. The car will over rev and shift abruptly taking off or downshifting I feel like I will hit another car one of this days or have an accident. See attached files I have contacted mopar and the dealership twice with no results.
I purchased the vehicle froma local certified dealer in the end of April 2017 in may I had to have it towed to there location becasue the vehicle wouldnt turn on or respond they claimed it was the battery but ever since then the car been shifting weird the told me it need to be taken to a Chrysler dealership. Just last week (July 4th weekend) I was driving to a friends house when the car wouldnt go past 35mph as soon as I stoped the vehicle stalled. Itried to turn it on but it wont and it kept the starter even tho I let off the start button. I was scared to think it may cause a fire. 2 days after that I got the sama situation but this time the display would not work and the car stalled again resulting me to apply the hazards and try to avoid to get hit by vehicles. I have a current vedeo that show what it was doing
My car is having an intermittent loss of power to electrical components could cause a vehicle to stall without warning. This has happened on several occasions, whereby my vehicle was on the road and simply loss power.
A couple weeks ago my car stalled and totally shut down as I was turning into my driveway. It completely locked up including the brakes, steering, transmission and wouldn't do anything. I tried to put the car in park however the control knob to do so was locked and wouldn't move. The engine was shut down but all the electrical systems were working and several service messages cycled through the display screen. My husband had to disconnect the battery, which reset everything and allowed us to start the car and pull it out of the road and into the driveway. I called Chrysler roadside and my car was towed to the Chrysler dealership. After 3 days in the service dept I was informed they could not recreate the issue that caused the car to totally shut down and lock up while driving. They drove the car, however no codes were active and they were unable to get the car to throw a code while they had the vehicle. They have now returned my car to me without this major safety issue being addressed. Since they could not recreate the stalling and shutdown they returned the car to me. Luckily this happened as I was turning into my driveway as opposed to a few minutes earlier when I was on the highway surrounded by other vehicles. I'm very concerned that it could happen again and next time I may not be as lucky. I leased the car brand new in Aug. 2014, the lease ends Aug. 2017.
