This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The design of the 'racetrack' style taillight assembly allows water and water condensation to accumulate within the assembly. This has been replaced under parts warranty for my vehicle 3 times. If these taillights are not warrantied the cost to replace is prohibitive, resulting in many vehicles with reduced rear light visibility.
There is water in the rear tail light race rack. Must be a seal issue since the is no damage to the tail lights. Hopefully the lights don't go out before it is fixed.
Water leaked in and accumulated inside the rear "racetrack" led taillight assembly, causing failure to led lights on the driver side of the assembly. The design of this assembly is clearly flawed due to thousands of reports of this happening. Dodge quoted my $1100 for the replacement part. Absolutely ridiculous.
Led light on one side of the lift gate is out possibly due to water inside of the tail light need answers. Looks like there are many complaints about this problem.
The tail running light is out, after looking at the affected area, this is due to water being inside the lighting area. We have seen other complaints about this in other Durango's. Dodge wants to charge us to replace this. This seems to be a defect and we are not willing to pay for such a repair. Water inside a running light is clearly not the consumers fault.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that water was entering the rear race type led lighting. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to fox negaunee Chevrolet Buick GMC (705 us-41, negaunee, mi 49866, (855) 509-9547) where it was diagnosed that the led panel part number: 6815 5950 ai needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 35451117. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 79,780.
Add mine to the many complaints about water getting into the tail lights that are in the hatch. Also known as race track tail light. There is a bug inside as well so the gap in this "sealed" unit must be huge. You can see the mosquito in img_6163.jpg. Also have trouble with water getting in the drivers side headlight about a year ago. I purchased this vehicle new and it has never been in an accident. This is an obvious safety issue when the water starts clouding the lens and/or starts shorting out the bulbs. These issues are not covered by the lifetime maxcare warranty. I tried uploading 4 photos. Hopefeully you got them all
The rear racetrack lights keep taking on water! if I recall water and electricity don't mix! this was one of the selling features that caught my eye to buy this vehicle. But apparently this is a big problem with these lights and an expensive fix if it burns out. The tail light is fused with the plate light. So if the fuse blows you have no plate light which in my state is illegal. If the lights are out, there really isn't much illumination in the rear. I could easily get rear ended at night or cloudy out.
Water has pooled up in the lower right led housing and shorted out the lights in that particular area. At one point the whole led strip went out on the lift gate. I didn't know it happened until I smelt a strong electrical fire smoke scent and started looking around to find the source. Water continues to pool on both sides of the led racetrack taillights.
Water is collecting in the left side of my racetrack light on my 2014 Dodge Durango. The dealership and Dodge as a whole has continued to blow me off for something that is a nationally known defect.
Water getting into the rear hatch light [bar] on lift gate, causing the L.E.D. light to burn out. Seems to be not sealed properly from factory. Whether it is sitting, or mobile, the water still gets into the assembly.
Rear lighting will accumulate moisture inside housing eventually burning out led elements. This results in drivers being unable to see vehicle from the rear as well as citations for nonfunctioning equipment.
Rear race track lighting has water accumulating in the tail light assembly causing the entire light bar to short out. This has caused the license plate lights to stop working as well which are required by state law. Estimate to replace by dealer is $1600
Takata recall standing water and bugs are inside my rear light bar on my truck. From rain water and now my light on the driver side in the rear is out.
Rain gets in the tail light and portions of the light do not light. I have seen many complaints online about this. It is a $1200 and it has happen again to mine. I don't know where or when it happens. I can see the water inside tail light.
