CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall" NHTSA recall number 17V024, dated January 10, 1917 has not been fixed in a timely manner. Ford has offered a rental car as a temporary remedy. This isn't satisfactory as my car would have to be placed in storage or at least not driven. This could lead to seal leaks, battery failure and possible rodent infestations.

Takata recall I have been getting prior notices from Ford (auto nation in scottsdale and other places) I have called several times about it and kept getting told no worries we will notify you when recall part available. This is now been going on over a year no call that part is in and being told now it is a safety issue. I drive over 140+ miles per day at least 5 days per week and sometime have passengers. Being told now don't let anyone sit in the front passenger seat but drive into dealership (which is aways) they can put me into rental but I would need to drive back home with rental and my vehicle, park my vehicle at my house then drive back when part comes in? I currently have no place to store my vehicle and a rental without my hoa getting upset. They have no eta and this has been taking a long time already with very little (misleading by saying its not a safety issue and nothing about front seat passengers until now). Unsure first date of notification from dealership and conversation with them as was a while ago and told not to worry about it.

Takata recall I took my 2007 Edge to my local dealership for the recent airbag shrapnel recall. I was informed that I would need to join a waitlist, for when the parts become available. In the meantime, im supposed to drive my car, knowing the possible fatal risk, and "just refrain from allowing passengers to ride there". umm.. hello what about my life"?" I was told no loaner vehicle and to know, "if we survive, we could be very rich with a lawsuit" from an employee. This will not suffice and I need a remedy.

Takata recall I have been waiting since July 2016 to get our car fixed and I can't believe that no Ford Edges have been fixed, my wife was involved in a minor accident recently and the bags did not deploy. I have in the past year had back surgery, open heart surgery and sudden cardiac arrest on new years day. I'm telling you all this because we need this car every week for dr. Visits in tulsa and I'm tired of just being told by bill knight Ford that we're waiting on parts. I can understand why there are so many law suits over recalls. If something happens to me attributed to this, expect another one. I'm documenting everything for my family. I talked to a man yesterday that took his latest letter by his dealer and they ordered air bags for 2 Ford pick-ups sincerely, [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Takata recall this recall was announced nearly a year and a half ago and replacement parts are still not available. I was recently told that Ford would provide a rental vehichle to use until parts come in. The rental vehicle will cost $5 per day and none are actually available to use. I frequently drive with passengers and am fearful for their safety - this has gone on too long.
