CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

I I cannot remove the head rests on the rear seats. This has been a problem since I bought the vehicle in 2014, I believe. If I put the rear seats down, it's okay, but with them up, it blocks approx. 30% of view, out the back window. To me, that's a safety issue. I had taken it to a couple of different dealers, but been told it cannot be done. There are buttons to push (same as on the front seats), and the head rests can be raised and lowered, but not totallu removed as can be done with the fronts. Also, seems when I go to the car wash, the rubber of the rear window wiper blade becomes torn. Since I don't hardly ever use it, I thought I'd just remove it. Again, to no avail. Is the anything that can be done in that reguard? thanks for any help at all, that you might have.

The front passenger door ajar indicator light stays on even when the door is closed. This keeps the interior lights on and drains the battery and the car will not lock. This creates a safety issue when I have my grandchildren in the car and I cannot lock the car. Also, I work around correctional facilities and it is required that we keep our cars locked. This problem is really stressing me out and I feel Ford should be responsible for this issue. Also, my air bag indicator lights stay on continously which is another safety issue. I'm not sure the airbags would deploy if I were in an accident.

I (skyla burks) took my Ford Edge to the dealership to have my recalls repaired! my brake booster being the main one I'm concerned with because that's the biggest safety problem! the dealership told me because my car was over a certain amount of miles that the recall expired! how can the brake booster recall ever expire" especially when that's the means of being able to stop! my brakes are so bad that I don't like putting my children in the car! I don't feel safe at all driving it & they tell me they can't repair due to the mileage! well the mileage don't have anything to with my brakes going out & causing me to wreck & get injured or worse! this is a huge safety problem for not just myself! so how can I get this fixed"

3 times my 2011 Ford Edge has lost power & gone into 'limp mode' while driving. I've had to coast to side of the road. Wrench light, no AWD, no traction, low engine oil lights have all come on. Once the car wouldn't restart so I had it towed. Last time I drove it to dealership for them to tell me there are no codes so they don't know what the problem is. Obviously this is a very dangerous situation as I'm traveling 60 +miles an hour when my car basically loses power as I'm trying to get to a safe location. Investigating this problem it's a known throttle body issue & there is a customer satisfaction program 16B23 for 2011 Ford Edge w 3.5L engine & from Oakville plant which fits my car but my VIN is not included because year it was made. I called Ford customer service & they were going to reach out to dealership & then get back to me. That never happened. This is very disheartening that Ford doesn't see this as a life threatening situation & put into effect a recall.

While driving for awhile, vehicle lost power and went limp with no acceleration while in the middle of a large rotary with no place to pull over. The tool wrench warning light came on the display. The steering and braking were still operable, but without power, vehicle was unable to move out of traffic. Turned off vehicle and was able to drive normally. This happened again the next day, also on busy road. Took to dealer and was told I needed to come in when it was happening, which is impossible since there is no acceleration to drive. Vehicle has 43,000 miles.

2011 Ford Edge 102K miles. Front driver door light ajar, the door indicating its ajar keeps the lights in the vehicle illuminated, this in turned drained the battery. Very hard to tell the lights inside are on during daylight hours. Unfortunately this situation left my wife and kids stranded. Looked up solutions for this when I ran across the recall 19N09 for this situation. Took it to the local dealership where it was diagnosed as the the issue. They noted this was a very common issue with these cars. Unfortunately today's date (8/26/20) was 26 days past the recall expiration date of 7/31/20. The dealership advised me they couldn't fix the issue under the recall due to the expiration and the repair would cost $471. I called Ford directly where they politely told me I missed the date and therefore I was on my own. I'm very disappointed in Ford's decision to not stand behind the recall and take care of the known issue with the Edge after being only 26 days after a recall expired. I asked Ford if they had notified me of this issue with the vehicle prior to the recall expiring, they said they sent me a notice in January, I asked them to confirm the address that notice was sent to and they intimately asked me to verify my address to them. Red flag.... I got the feeling they did not send out any notice on this recall and they could not confirm where they sent the notice to. Ford advised me to pay up, get it fixed but keep the receipt in case the recall opens back up they would reimburse me for it. Very disappointed in this situation and in Ford. The way the car is currently is not safe for my wife and kids to drive. The dealership told me that I could just "disconnect the negative terminal to stop the battery from draining"! Ford please do the right thing and open this recall back up.

In 2016 Ford Edge door ajar light will stay on even when the door were locked. In the beginning it was not an issue but than things got worse as for no apparent reason the car alarm would go off on its own at different times of day and night. After pinpointing the problem to the door latch sensor was advised to change the sensor (but since geniuses at Ford decided to incorporate the sensor in the actual door latch with no removable parts) I was forced to change the entire door latch mechanism which cost about $500..I recently received a letter that this was a known issue and a recall now has been ordered...submitted the paperwork for a refund and it was denied (reason car in 2016 had 88,000 miles)...although on the letter it says that if I had the issue now it will be covered up to 120,000...I have called Ford multiple times and also submitted original receipts with chapman Ford in egg harbor twp, NJ...but they said they can not honor any refunds due to mileage (case # Ford gave me is [xxx]) information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Door latch, when vehicle hit 122,000 got a safety bulletin extending warranty on vehicle door latch to 120,000 mile my vehicle was at 122,000 at the time. Now there is a recall on door matches in question but Ford Edges are not included in this recall? almost every time I close my door my door ajar light continues to stay on unless I slam my door with a ridiculous amount of force 4 or 5 times.

Have been having issues with passenger rear door latch showing door is open when it's not. This is the same issue we've had a few times with the front driver door latch with illuminated dome lights. The driver door issue has finally been acknowledged by Ford, and they issued a customer satisfaction program alert in January 2020, 19N09, which will cover the cost of fixing that problem or reimbursement of costs by owners who paid to fix on their own. However, I have the same issue with rear passenger door, and Ford (joyce from online cust. Service) said that's not a covered event. Why does it take Ford so long to address safety issues?
