CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

The door ajar warning light stays on when the door(driver side) is closed. You have to slam the door hard to get the light off. While driving it can come on. While parked it can come on and trigger the alarm in car.

1) "shift to park" error: Have to click the shifter one or two times to clear it. Until I do, the seat does not move back for exiting. 2) "driver door ajar" error: Have to open and close the door, sometimes only once, but usually many times in order to clear the error. 3) if the "door" error is not cleared, the "shift" error will appear while moving, whenever I come to a stop. Also, the audible signal will kick in. 4) at times the driver door will not unlock with the touch of my hand. I suspect when I shut the door last, the "door" error was probably in effect. Service: I actually took my car to the dealer and all they could tell me was that the shifter had to be replaced for $500. They couldn't even find the "door" error. I think this merits a recall notice and Ford should repair these problems at no or reasonable costs.

Sensor on passenger door is showing open an door is not open and inside lights stay on and runs the battery down. Had to replace battery due to inside lights staying on. Doors will not lock when existing vehicle. Driving at night and inside light stays on is a driving safety factor. Car has been in the shop four times for this same reason. Unable to fix it.

On multiple occasions while driving between the speeds of 25mph and 80mph on european roads/highways the car loses ability to accelerate regardless of pressure on gas pedal. I had to pull over, luckily avoiding cars and possible collisions. Car displayed yellow wrench and "AWD off" on left side display. Once in safe area I turned off the car, waited for a few minutes and turned it back on without immediate incident. This happened a total of 7 times within a week, however, after contacting Ford service stateside I was told to go to an italian Ford dealership. However, I stopped at two Ford service centers located in vicenza, italy and the mechanics will not touch my car due to the model not being sold anywhere in europe. The problem stopped up until this past week where it has happened again twice within 3 days at, luckily, low speeds and avoiding all cars/hazards. We will attempt to bring it to a local mechanic in hopes of getting the problem fixed as we are leaving for the states in less than a month due to military pcs orders.
