CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

The door ajar light comes on when door is completely shut on the drivers side, it prevents from my doors from locking and I have children in the car. It has trapped me in the car, I had to climb over into the passenger seat and exit out of that door. It also drains my battery because the lights stay on in the car.
The door ajar alarm/light stays on all the time even when the door is shut securely, in motion and not. Sometimes when you park the car it stays on and the interior lights will not shut off or they shut off and kick back on at random. Reading some complaints and sounds like a common problem, even to the extent of having it kill their battery and some have had it fixed at shop just to have the same thing happen again. Ford needs to be responsible and have a recall for this problem.
Driver door ajar light stays on or comes in intermittently. This will cause dome light to come on at night and blind me, also causes doors not to be able to lock. These are grave safety concerns of mine where I have a seven year old and on the occasion I have to drive through "unsafe" neighborhoods to get home. This has also caused my battery to die and left me stranded. All of these issues are safety related to either my vehicle, as well as mine and my family's lives.
Driver door ajar alarm displays causing interior lights to stay on, safety door locks will not acivate when driving off...this has been serviced before and will be ok for few months then will start again..have purchased battery because of this

I been having problems for the past year on the driver and pasanger door ajar.. no matter how hard I slam the doors. Lights still on, and ajar symbols on. Is not really safe not more because the door doesn't lock. Cause of that defect. They won't lock. And it's bad because I can't really do my duties, knowing is open and somebody might just break in. Is really so annouying., this issues. I try Ford dealer to work on that they just says it warranty won't cover no more. That I have to paid from my own pocket. Which is really a factory problem. Please help resolve this issue. I been seeing a lot of you tube videos with the same problem
The rear left door ajar warning keeps coming on even when the door is closed. The warning will pop on while the car is in motion. The lights also pop on when there is no key in the ignition and the car is parked in the driveway. I have already had to replace my battery due to this issue.
Forward collision avoidence sensor blocked warning message on dash illuminated following rain rendering collision avoidance system innoperative. It comes on after a couple of miles driving
After entering my vehicle and the door will be completely closed the door ajar sensor will come on and interior lights. Also, as I was riding down the road, out of no where the door ajar sensor comes on and interior lights come on and all the doors unlocked by themselves...soon as I locked them back, they unclocked again on their own.
Drivers door saying door ajar and not closing. Lights in car and signal for door ajar not going off when closed. Problem with door latch. Had to have Ford dealer fix latch. It seems like every Ford vechile has been recalled expect the 2012 Ford Edge. This needs to be investigated because it seems like all the doors are not completely closed as the door locks are not going completely down and appear like they can open at any time.
The driver door ajar light stays on most of the time. It makes the interior lights stay on unless turned off manually and can drain the cars battery and makes it hazardous to drive at night. The notification light comes on from when the car is in park and when the car is shifted into gear or rolling the notification sound comes on. The doors do not lock when the car is in motion and the notification sound beeps for several mins after the car is is in drive.
The driver side door sensor does not register the door as closed when it is. The dash warning light comes on and stays on and the interior lights do not shut off. The driver side door has to be closed up to 30 times before the sensor registers the door as closed. The dash warning remains lit and "shift to park" comes on when coming to a stop at a light.
After drivers door is closed and car is started it still shows drivers door as open and interior lights won't go off and alarm sounds. This is a major safety issue when trying to back up or drive at night when interior lights won't go off.
Door ajar sensor gets stuck and indicates an open door, even though it is properly closed and latched. This leads to being unable to get the dome light to come off and drains batteries. Varying numbers of door closures are required to get the sensor to reset. Makes no difference if door is slammed or shut gently.
Door ajar sensor failure: 2012 Ford Edge left rear passenger "door ajar" sensor fails to indicate when door is shut/locked indicating it may still be open/unlocked. The sensor failure affects the following: - alarm/intrusion detection: Security system does not set properly and will activate randomly if set. Attempting to set alarm results in three abnormal horn blasts indicating a door is ajar. In this state, alarm will sound randomly which is highly disruptive to neighbors. It is unsure whether this model can lock without security system enabled, forcing the vehicle to be left unlocked. - electric / battery: Dome lights, and other dash indicators do not secure manually and cause severe battery drainage. Expensive battery replacements. - safety: Small children in car seats, unsure if doors are properly secured, doubt and peace of mind in Ford. The issue was discovered approximately August 2016. Vehicle was parked. At first the door could be opened and re-shut with force and sensor would self correct, but ultimately it would fail altogether. This is a known issue. Ford, where is the recall!?
Door ajar sensor...this is causing my dome lights to just come on going down the road and tank goodness when this happened there wasn't another car near me because I would have crashed into them because it blinded me. Also my doors want lock when this sensor is messing up. I have already had one replaced and now another one I think this is a major problem and Ford will not recognize it.
Door ajar light goes on, even when door is closed, which leads to issues at times with the door closing. Ford is aware its an issue, has been replaced on this vehicle previously, and they refuse to issue a recall on it. Drains the battery and is a safety issue.
Door latch ajar warning. Doors are unable to stay locked. It is unsafe. The warning light for "door ajar" and "put gear in park" comes on nonstop while driving. The light stays on after parked for at least 20 minutes which drains battery. I went to the dealer and had to pay $615.91 to fix. I would like to be reimbursed for faulty locks. I am also afraid the other three are going to do the same thing.
