The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that there was condensation in the rear exterior light housings. The contact stated that the condensation had increased significantly over time. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a common failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Material used for tail light housing develop cracks from changes in temperature allowing water into the housing and impacting the function of brake and reverse lights.
Rear hatch taillight lens has condensation form in it makeing the light unit fogs up. The condensation does not disappear in warm weather and in cold weather ice up. After checking with the dealer they say when they replace the entire unit this occur again. They said it is a bad design. I live in a state that requuires a vehicle yearly state inspection.and foged up lens is a consern. This does not leak into the lens in rain or car wash. This auto is kept garaged except when in use.
The head lights on this model Ford are dangerously inadequate. The is no peripheral lighting and the candle power at dusk and dark is so low the vision is extremely poor. I don't drive the car at night due to safety concerns. When searched online this a very common problem with the 2015 Edge.
