Engine stalled while driving, but accessory power stayed on. Had to coast to the side of the road and attempt multiple times to restart the vehicle. Only able to keep the engine running when foot on gas, when I came to a stop light the car would again stall. This has happened 3 times now. Why is there not a recall? Definite safety issue.

Edge Sport 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,870 miles

Within minutes after starting and driving off going about 40mph up a 2 lane road with a cliff on one side and mountain on the other the car and all its mechanic options died suddenly and the car was unable to steer well and stranded me in the dark on a hill telling me to check the manual. This could have caused serious injury or death of myself or my children had any of the circumstances changed a little. The 'internet" says this a faulty throttle body issue and should be recalled. We are going to drop the car off at the dealer and see what they say and report back. I am very nervous about this cars reliability / safety now.

Update from Aug 18, 2017: The dealer is stumped - they found an error code P0016 in the system. rather than replace something Ford is telling them to check connections. We were finally offered a loaner and are standing by.

Heading home through residential area, went to accelerate for hill, noticed no response in throttle. Engine had shut off and dash said full power accessories mode. Had to pull over put in park and restart, was very lucky there was no traffic. Car going in to get looked at for another issue, this will be added to the list.

Edge Leather Trim Se 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,000 miles

This is really embarrassing, turning off in traffic in a brand new car. The check engine, the air bag, the check manual, the roadside assistant lights all come on. the only good thing is once you wait a minute it turns back on. I took it to the dealer, they said it needs a part (BRAND NEW CAR).

Edge V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

While driving about 45mph on a busy road in my Ford Edge which is only 2 weeks old and has less than 1,000 miles the engine just stopped working and the no gas was getting to the engine. I drifted to the light before I realized that the car had even stalled. I put the car in park and tried to restart but the car only sputtered and coughed and would not turn over, almost like it was out of gas but I had a full tank. I waited a few minutes and tried again and again but it wouldn't turn over. I had to get out of the car on a major road and wave people around me for an hour while waiting for the tow truck from Ford. Three days later they do not have any explanation as to why this is happening, very very scary.
