A 2006 model vehicle should not have critical problems like a needing a new transmission!
Without an extended warranty this is a huge expense let alone tie emissed from work and no transportation. Shame on Ford for not addressing known problems and defects.
I am outraged that a car I purchased new (it will be 3 years in November) now has to have the transmission replaced and of course it was after I exceeded the 36,000 miles. In reading other complaints this appears to be a possible defect to me. Just for anyone who might want to know the facts I was on my way to work this morning and the OD light kept flashing on. I pressed the OD button to no avail. This evening when I got ready to go home. I was driving down the street and felt hesitation. I stopped at a traffic lignt and the car would not move. I kept pressing the gas and the car sped off but would not go over 40mph then the speed kept decreasing until it came to a standstill. I pressed the gas again and the same thing occurred. I immediately pulled off the roadway into a parking lot. I called a garage and the mechanic called me and told me the transmission is fried. It has plenty of fluid looks like the clutches are gone. He stated he use to work for Ford and this should not be happening to a 2006 vehicle with a little over 40,000. I had only 12,000 miles my first 2 years this year with my mom being ill and my taking my granddaughter to college I put more highway miles on the car. My purpose for buying a new car was to avoid these types of problems. I am truly frustrated. I am going to pray that I don't have to battle with Ford about replacing without being out of any money.
I bought this car in November 2005, and in March 2006, with only 5800km on engine, it needed a new transmission. It was replaced under warranty. After driving the car a few months it was clear the problem was not resolved, so I took the car back and this time they pulled another transmission from a new vehicle on the lot (so I was told), and installed it in my car. The problem was resolved for quite a while, but at 80,000km I starting to see the problem coming back. During the initial transmission replacement I spoke extensively with the shop Foreman about this problem. He worked on the repair himself, and told me that he thought there was a manufacturing defect during the assembly of these manual transmissions. I was given a 150,000km Ford Extended Power Train Warranty after the 2nd replacement, however Ford have now decided that the problem may be the clutch. This is interesting, as the car exhibits all the same symptoms as before the replacements, however the clutch is not covered by the extended warranty.
Just had to replace a transmission on a leased ford escape 2006.Although Ford covered the cost for the replacement it doesn't leave a good reason to want to but it after the lease is up.Ive heard of few vehicles needing a transmission after roughly 20,000 miles of driving.This was my first purchase of American cars in over 20 years and i am lamenting that decision.
well it sucks when you own a 2006 and the transmission goes and ford didn,t cover this
my warranty was 3 years 60,000 k and i was 27 months with 87,000 k
the warranty on this escape changed in July of 2006 to 5 years 100,000 k
but i got mine the end of nov 2005. but this suv is a 2006
ford only picked up $1750.00 dollars i payed the other half this suck.
ford should of covered this .
well ia,m not done with this yet i will be sending ford a letter and posting this
in paper. ia,m also looking for more people with these type of problem.
if ford doesn't cover this it will be the last one i buy

All I have to say is WOW!!!!! Just found out my transmission on my 2006 Ford Escape needs to be replaced or rebuilt. How in the hell can a car that isnt even 2 years old and has only 40,000 miles need to get a brand new transmission. This to me is an outrage, the only reason I bought a brand new car is so I didn't have to worry about sh*t like this!!!!!! No wonder Ford Motor Company is going bankrupt, they make cars with faulty and defective parts. I noticed a lot of other people have had the same problem with there Escapes. Ford must know there is something wrong with these transmissions yet they are still putting them into vehicles and this is the biggest load of bullshit ever. I will never purchase another Ford as long as I live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
