While I was driving up I95 in New Jersey I pulled into a rest stop for gas. Turned the car off to get gas. When I turned the car back on, I no longer had power steering. After attempting to reconnect by turning the car off and on nothing helped. I then had to drive the final hour to my house with no power steering which was very difficult and obviously dangerous. I could hold a straight line and make turns when necessary but to make any type of swerve to avoid something would have been impossible so luckily this happened late at night with no one on the road. When I brought the car into the Ford dealership they said this problem was not covered under my warranty because the car is now over 4 years old and has 63,000 miles on it. (warranty expired at 60,000). They ended up having to completely replace the power steering rack and all wheel drive system costing $3,400 out of pocket. I found this lack of owning up to an obvious flaw in the design of the car completely irresponsible. On top of that, Ford cars such as the 2011-2013 Fusion have been recalled for this exact same issue. That being said I request you look into this issue for my 2015 Ford Escape model because I am learning I am not the first person to experience this issue. This is an extremely dangerous design flaw and Ford is not owning up to the issue. Passing this massive financial burden on me as a customer is also unacceptable. Attached please find the work order from the Ford dealership. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I was driving my 2015 Ford Escape going about 50mph when my steering wheel just froze. It took all of my strength to try to turn the wheel so I could get myself off the main road and out of everyone's way. I got myself to the side and couldn't turn the wheel at all. Luckily my family wasn't too far so my dad was gonna help me get my car home but he couldn't even turn the wheel. We had to call for a tow truck. Also my 2015 Ford Escape would stall after pumping gas, taking several attempts to start my car and at times not starting at all after filling my tank. It has stalled on me serversl times while driving on the main road leaving me stranded and holding up traffic on busy roads. Low tire pressure/ tire pressure sensor fault warning light appears often even though all tires are at correct pressures ABS and traction control appears noisy cabin makes buzzing noises behind stereo even when car is off stereo malfunctions happen often where cds get stuck and stereo says 'no cd' while trying to eject it.

As my wife is driving to the school while going in a straight line on the state road in our 2015 Ford Escape the power steering went out. This is a known problem with the Ford Escape, it is very dangerous... online suggest you just turn the car off and turn it back on and the power steering will reset well this time it didn't work she was halfway between our school and our home and she had to drive it the rest of the way back home with no power steering... again I cannot believe this is already a recall as it happens while you are actually in the process of driving the vehicle. Imagine if it happened on the highway!!!

My 2015 Ford Escape was parked in the parking lot where my work located. I have no problem turning the engine on; however, when started backing up, the steering wheel was so hard to maneuver. I tried turning to the left or right turn but it is like hustling and fighting a muscled man. It was in the middle of the night. It was freezing. I thought about the danger of driving this vehicle because for the first time I never felt safe driving my Ford Escape that Friday night (1/25/19).

My step daughter was parallel parking with her uncle and the vehicle would not turn so her uncle go in the driver seat and it was fine for about a minute and it would not turn for him. So they turned the vehicle off for 20 minutes and then it was fine. I am glad they were driving slow in a practice area for parallel parking. Maybe Ford will do a recall on this and fix the problem.

Vehicle was in motion and the steering went out and I couldn't steer the vehicle. I was on a secondary two way rural road, if I had been on the highway going 70 miles an hour I would be dead as I had no control of the vehicle. I was able to get the car to the dealer, with great difficulty, for service. I reviewed information on-line and this appears to have happened to other Ford vehicles and there was a recall. I'm being told I have to pay to have the car fixed since there is no recall for the 2015 Escape and there was no loaner so I have to also pay for a rental. I contacted Ford and have a case number cas-15434220. I'm filling out this form in hopes that no one else has this happen resulting in someone being killed because of a continued known issue with Ford.

Sudden loss of steering resulting in a collision with a curb. There was damage to lower control arm and other suspension parts as a result of the collision. I drove car home 4 miles, although I shouldn't have. I experienced momentary loss of steering 5 more time in those 4 miles. Fortunately all were at low speed. I was not injured. The car has 68, xxx miles and is under extended warranty. I had the Escape towed in for repairs. The collision damage was covered by insurance. The service dept. At Ford said the found nothing wrong with steering. The car was handed down to me by parents. I told them about the steering loss. They said with the same vehicle they lost steering momentarily one time before also. They drove it to the same service dept. My parents said someone from the service dept repaired it, although they were not given any paperwork. I asked about this on the phone and the same service dept has no record of this service. I do not have any documents to upload other than a repair form for the damage as a result. The service dept is hertrich's frederick Ford in seaford,

I purchased a used 2015 Ford Escape on May 10, 2017. I drove it to yellowstone over memorial day weekend to test the vehicle out. The transmission would shift really hard and at 40 mph it seemed to hesitate what gear to shift to. I took it back to the dealership, who sent it to a Ford dealership and they reset the transmission. They said the car learns a driver's driving habits and since someone else owned the car it wasn't used to my driving habits. The reset on the transmission has help a little, I still do not like the way it shifts at 40 mph and it also hesitates to go and then when it kicks in it is hard to slow down. Yesterday July 5, 2017 I was driving back to work from lunch and my power steering failed. I had a warning come on at the same time I noticed the power steering was gone. I was glad I was on a back road or it could have caused and accident. I couldn't move the steering wheel. I had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealership. I have not heard anything regarding the issue yet. I have only had the car for almost 60 days and I have had it serviced twice. I don't feel I can trust this car. My 10 year old van with 170,000 miles is more reliable.

Faulty electric power steering went out while driving our usual 25 mile commute at an average 50 mph. At 33,000 miles this is an unexpected repair that cost this consumer $2,200. More over there was no warning or mechanical wear, the steering went out and a grinding sound was emitting from the front while the steering was locking or binding and over compensating on turns.

  • 46,554 miles
Power steering went out at 46554 miles. Total cost of repair: $2019. Ford service department explained that this part was "in high demand" and repairs took eight days to complete. First time power steering went out, car was stationary, driven to destination in town w/O power steering, restarted and power steering resumed. Dealership was notified and decision was made to see if it happened again. Second time power steering went out, car was in motion on city street, drove to dealership without power steering, hooked up to computer. Because this part is "in high demand", does this signal time for a recall? I would hope so!
