On the evening of July 7th, 2015 at approximately 10:45 P.M. we heard a commotion outside our apartment complex and discovered my '02 Expedition fully on fire and being doused by the local fire department. It had just come back from repairs that afternoon - to the pigtail switch and re-wiring in the steering column due to loss of turn signals and radio. Not only was my car destroyed, but the cars on either side were damaged, as well as damage to the apartment complex. We retained an attorney and our initial report from the fire department stated the cause as "faulty wiring." The private fire investigator we retained has advised our attorney that the fire is due to the flawed cruise control system that has been the cause of hundreds of other fires in Ford vehicles. We intend to pursue this matter legally and would sincerely appreciate any assistance or advise your office can provide.

On December 21st 2012 I left to drop my daughter at daycare... we got into the vehicle and I found I was unable to get my vehicle out of "park" and had to put it in neutral and start it (also found that the windows and wipers weren't operating at all either)... my daughter stated "mommy, I smell something burning" and my assumption was the fuse had blown... I drove a few blocks and dropped her off and then stopped a block away at the local convenient store and upon exiting the store came out and found flames pouring out of my driver side wheel/ hood area. The 7-11 employee had a fire extinguisher and was able to put out the fire and I was informed and shown by the cary fire department where the fire had started and that there was a recall for that part in which I'm the fourth owner of. It took three weeks to get a reply from their general counsel department and in my eyes this needs to be expedited as I'm paying for a rental car that I can't afford... I'm not impressed by lack of urgency as I have no vehicle to get to and from work which is how I provide for me and my child.

My 2002 Ford Expedition has suffered numerous electrical problems. I received a letter from Ford the recall about the cruise control switch no operating properly, my cruise control went out a while back I did not think any thing of it till my truck would start up but would not come out of park, and when I tried to change the fuses they were popping as I changed them out. Will Ford replace all damaged items due to the cruise control switch. My actuator switch blew out and numerous problems are going on with my vehicle now due to these electrical errors.

About two weeks before my car wouldn't go into drive I had it towed to the dealers. They fixed the problem it was a brake switch and solenoid. That needed replacing $300 later its fixed. During the weekend my cruise control light kept flashing. My mother, daughter and I were waiting for my son who was at track practice on Monday 4-25-2011. We were waiting in the car and listening to the radio. I started my car to make sure it was going to start. As I started it was full of smoke so I open the hood and there was a little spark fire. I look into my car to find water and I returned to attend to the problem and it was in full flame. I called the fire department to report fire. The parking lot was full of parents and children also waiting for there children. There's serious fire damage under the hood wires and sensors. I have taken pictures as proof. Oil spills from the reservoir. Thank god we were there to stop it from loosing the vehicle and our lives. I wanted to find out information for myself. What I need to do" is this Ford fault for not informing me that there's been thousand of cases of mine. I bought my car less than a year ago. I was never notified of any recalls or faulty wiring let alone car fires??" my kids and I don't know if it's drivable. I haven't drove it since. I am going to Ford dealership tomorrow 4-29-11.

1. when it rains my 2002 Ford Expedition has water coming inside of it on the driver side. Consequently causing my GEM and fuse box to have to be replaced. I took it to the dealer and replaced the GEM and resealed my windshield. The next day after receiving my vehicle back from the dealer it rained again and had to take it back for the same symptom. They dried out the module and made sure the windshield was sealed good but until this day rain still comes in. I also replaced the door seal and took the luggage rack off and put sealant under it and it still gets water in my vehicle.

My car started just fine but it would not shift out of park and none of the windows worked. I checked the fuses and one was blown. I replaced the fuse and my car appeared to be working normally. I got within a half a block from my house and smoke started coming out from under the hood. I pulled into my driveway and immediately shut my car off. Smoke was pouring out from under the hood. I opened the hood and the cruise control depression switch was glowing red hot. Within a few seconds it burst into flames.

I was driving on a highway and proceeded to pass another car in the middle of my pass my car threw a spark plug and coil out of its head. My car immediately loss power and my car began to shake. At this moment a 18 wheeler headed towards me and my son. This was a very serious situation.that could very easily have been deadly. Since then it has happened several times at least 10 times every time this happens they have rethread plugs and put new coil in car very costly and time consuming.

Electrical problems from windshield leak. Thought it was moonroof drains, had them checked & cleaned at dealer. Still leaking. While driving to work, heard "pop" under dashboard (fuse panel) and radio went off. Replacement fuse blew immediately upon replacement. Removed radio and replacement fuse immediately blew again. Suspected ground in power circuit to factory stereo, verified with test light. Shorted circuit, 797 in this vehicle, is hot at all times (not switched through ignition). Subsequent investigation by owner shows that main wiring harness behind dashboard was not correctly installed when the vehicle was assembled at factory. The mounting points installed in the harness were never installed in the corresponding holes in the body, allowing the harness to sag approximately 2 inches below its correct position (and presumably rub against metal parts behind the dashboard). Due to the faulty factory installation, the harness can not be raised far enough to be properly installed without removing at least part of the dashboard and passenger side airbag (dealer says entire dashboard must be removed, a significant cost item). Dealer mechanic has viewed harness and agrees harness was not correctly installed. Subject harness also contains wiring for airbags, instrument panel, transmission control, rear lighting, trailer controls; basically every circuit in the vehicle which is controlled from or has indication in the dashboard. Owner is still troubleshooting and attempting to repair.

2002 Expedition eddie bauer edition it's been having electrical issues for awhile, and just recently the alternator had to be replaced. Since then the lovely electrical issues have snowballed. Driving down the road, my locks start locking and unlocking themselves. Then the warning lights start going off (airbag, theft device, ABS, battery). Then it starts to shake and I press the gas pedal, and nothing happen except it rolls forward slowly, like I'm idling through the light. I made it to the 7-11 parking lot just before it died. I've got no idea what is wrong, only that I'm either the owner of a very large paperweight, or my truck is possessed.

On 10/30/07 at 12:30am a 2002 Ford Expedition caught fire on my car lot and burned one other vehicle to the ground. The Expedition was just delivered to us from the auto auction the day prior. It was parked, locked, windows up, keys out of the vehicle. It currently has the open recall 05S28 on it and had not yet been performed. The entire front hood, grill, engine compartment, brake master cylinder, and electrical components where burned to the point of non-existence or melted matter. I contacted Ford Motor Company and they advised me to contact my insurance company.
