I bought this truck brand new, it's 3 years old now with 53,000 miles. It's never been off-road, and I've never hauled with it either. Took it to King's Ford and was told that even though I have the extended warranty, this is not included. There is no recall so the cost would be $2000.00. I bought the structs ($780.00) outright and will have my mechanic install them for $1400.00 out the door. Anything not covered but my warranty will be repaired outside of the dealership.

Expedition LX 3.5L V6 Twin Turbo

This is a company car, since most of our drive is local, our miles are pretty low. I got an email from our staff that our car is due for service such as oil change. We were told that we have a County Fleet service shop just down the road from our shop. I took the car to them on a Thursday since I have Friday as my Flex day off. I was hoping to get my car back on next Monday.

On Monday, one of my other co-worker wants to drop off his car also for service, thus we carpool to the shop together hoping to pick up my car and drive both of us back. Come to find out that their mechanics does not work on Friday, thus we had to walk back to our shop which is only about 500 feet. Wednesday morning, my coworker told me that his car was ready for him yesterday and he pick it up already. I was wondering why I dropped off my car first yet it is not ready. I call the shop to find out what happened and was told that my car is at the Ford dealer. They told me while doing the regular maintenance on my car, the mechanic found all four of my shock absorber are leaking.

Since the car is still under factory warranty, they brought the car to the dealer for warranty service. To my surprise that this car only have 4300 miles and I normally take care of my car and does not abuse my car. For example, I have two of my car that I own from brand new with 300,000 miles on them. One of them is still with me. I recently had my Lexus ES-300 at dealer service for 120,000 mile service and was informed by the mechanic that my rear shock is leaking and needs to be changed. At 120,000 miles, I complete understand that these rear shocks had their time and needs to be changed. I ordered the shock and changed them myself.

That is the reason why that I was caught totally off guard when I was told that this 4300 mile car has four leaking shock absorber. The only reason that I am driving this Ford Expedition is because it is company car. I would never own any car from the big three because of this reason. Ford needs to find their way back to quality again or else I don't see them as a viable company in five years. Ford needs to go and beg Alan Mulally back as CEO again and try to salvage the company again. Without Alan, I don't see Ford will make it this time. I hope Ford will replace the parts under warranty, if not, I guess our fleet mechanic will need to replace them. Like I said, as long as I have someone else handling the repair of the car, I don't mind driving the car from the Big Three but I doubt I will ever take the risk of owning one. Alan Mulally, where are you, Ford needs you one more time to bill them out.
