CarComplaints.com Notes: How can we give the 2001 model year a "seal of pretty good" when it has some problems with a slipping transmission and a known problem with the speed activation control switch? Because it's not the 2002. That's how.

Heard a sound at 3:30 in the morning, thought it might be my son who could have dropped something from his bed. So ingnored it.

Woke up the next morning to find the rear window in my explorer all over my driveway and street. No sign of vandalism. Valuables were in the car and found none were missing, so I ruled out theft or attempted theft. No rock in the car nothing to indicate it had been intentionally broken. 99% of the glass was on the street and only a little inside.

I've read this happened to other people... What is Ford doing about it ?

Can you imagine if this happened while one was driving, what would happen to the car behind, particularly on a highway?

Anyone heard from Ford about this? I just had a recall service done on my Explorer sport, cruise controls switch that could cause a fire...at least they notified me and fixed it free...

I am lucky to live not too far from junk yards and was able to find a window and replace it myself... cheaper than the deductible in my car and the 400 or so the dealer wants...
