CarComplaints.com Notes: The NHTSA's complaint data shows potentially scary power steering problems with the 2011 Ford Explorer.

The steering complaints are pretty serious - owners report the power steering cuts out while driving. The NHTSA opened an investigation into the power steering problems in June 2012, which lead to a recall in 2014. However years later, many 2011 Explorer owners report this defect is still occurring.

It's too bad because the 2009 & 2010 Ford Explorer are solid, trouble-free model years.

Loud noise coming from driver side front speaker that is intermttent and will still happen with key off and will not go away until I open the door. Taken in to Ford 4 times and they have replaced amp and speaker and problem still comes and goes. Ford estimator heard it 1 time when I brought it in but could not get it to do it again.

Update from Oct 25, 2015: Ford Dealer replaced front wiring harness and that seemed to correct the problem

Today is Oct 16, 2013 and this problem started on Aug. 17, 2012 and this problem is still going on. They tried to fix it once. Today my car is back at the dealer for the 6th time since I bought my car back in 8/2011. The problem is they don't hear it, however, Ford did have a bulletin out on the sound that is why they fixed it back in June and the problem is still not fixed. The humming happens when the radio is off, and it gets louder when you use the passenger side window or step on the gas, it sounds like a wire is pinched somewhere and causing feed back. Also, the humming stay when you turn off the car and take out the key, it only stops when you open the door. This sound is not constant, it comes and goes. There is days that it won't happen then there is day that it will go 3 - 4 day of constant humming. I don't know if anyone else has this problem. But I will see if today has any luck.
