When I shift into Park, the P on the dash won't light up the majority of the time. So I get a warning telling me to shift to Park. After I play with the gear shift knob, it will eventually light up.

Thank you

Update from Jul 22, 2019: "Shift to Park" problem easy fix! I did it myself without any difficulty. The problem lays on the lever plastic bar that is part of the shifting mechanism raises the little metal bar that in turn activate the toggle switch and this in turn send the signal to the PCM that the shifter is in park. This bar wears out prematurely with the constant use and does not have the high enough to raise the other metal flexible bar to activate the switch.

I did fix it just by bending down the metal bar that comes out from the switch so it is catching and makes up the for the wear of the other plastic bar worn out that comes from the shifting mechanism.

If you need help contact me at 714 710 1135 (Home) and I will help you at not cost to you.

This is very unsafe, since the vehicle should be in park. The vehicle could roll and injure and/or kill someone. FORD needs to issue a recall on this immediately.

When placed into park the illuminated light that indicates what gear you are currently in, now does not illuminate when the vehicle is placed in park unless the gear shift is engaged multiple times from another gear and back to park. After a couple of days of this the "check engine" light has now come on. I have scheduled the dealership to diagnosis the issue and will update this once the solution is found.

Every time we put the car in park, it would not register that it was in park and warning kept flashing that said shift to park. We had to just turn off the car most of the time and sometimes wiggling the shifter would work. We finally took it in and paid $800.00 to get it fixed.

Very aggravating any time the "Not in Park" sign comes on when I know the gear is in park. I believe this can cause serious damage to property or cause death since the vehicle can roll. I believe Ford Motor Co should own up and recall all vehicles for service. It cost too much for retirees.

When shifting to PARK, "P" indicator does not light. receive warning message to shift to park. Squeezing the shift button on the shifter usually takes care of the problem, although sometimes it takes several tries. Car appears to shift to park, but not sure sometimes. Very annoying. I have read several other complaints so this is a common issue that Ford refuses to address.
