I was driving at normal interstate speed and continued to hear a whistling sound outside my driver's side window. I thought the problem was the window trim until one day I heard banging and saw my keyless entry pad hanging by the wires and twisting in the wind. I examined the pad and noticed a plug used for attaching at the top was missing. I used some tape to temporarily hold it in place and went to my local Ford Dealership. It was not covered under my extended warranty and the dealership was only going to fix it with an adhesive. I declined their service due to the cost and what I though was a band aid fix.
I picked up some epoxy adhesive and did the fix myself.
I believe the problem stems from a design idea gone bad. The panel and plugs cannot withstand the flow of air that goes between the panel and metal door frame. Also, if you use an automated car wash you can expect that the beating of the brushes is going to be bad over time.
