While driving vechicle suddeningly lost power, this is the second time this has happened in the last 7700 miles. Very dangerous as this has happened in heavey traffic and almost caused an accident. Truck has the ecboostengine. ## VIN passed ## 2012 Ford F150 ##
Vehicle has less than 45000 miles. Has erratic loss of power while accelerating. Evidence of water in the air intake. Research is showing that the ecoboost engine is collecting more water in the intercooler than the engine can consume. Problems increases in southern humid states. This is problem caused by faulty engineering in the 3.5L ecoboost engine and could cause accidents due to unpredictable loss in power. Loss of power is felt while driving on city and highway driving.
We have a Ford F-150 and it is losing power as you travel down the road. We have to pull over and turn the truck off and restart it. We have had it in the shop at least twice with no success in finding the problem. We have had sensors replaced and the intercooler drained twice. This is dangerous because as your traveling it will loose power and it's hard to get off the road sometimes and could cause an accident. We don't know what to do at this point.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle misfired and stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician replaced the spark plugs and the coils. But the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The technician called woodhouse Ford at 402-574-2759 (located at 3633 N 72nd St, omaha, ne 68134), but the dealer was unable to provide any assistance. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
My 2012 Ford F150 XLT supercrew ecoboost has about 85000 miles and abruptly went from about 30-40mph to about 0mph a few times now while driving. Once time was very scary on a congested road. After this happened, its like my transmission misfires and misses gears all of the time. There is now a vacuum noise also coming out if the engine and it doesn't run right. I brought it to Ford and they told me that I probably wasn't changing the oil properly (I had changed my oil every 3000-5000 miles regularly.), but now they said I messed up the timing chain and phasers and they had to be changed for a price of about 4000 dollars. I have owned other Ford not ecoboosts and they all ran fine. I started doing some research and I am sure this is an engineering flaw on the part of Ford. I actually read that the NHTSA did research on this topic. There are tons of forums that have the information on them and believe that Ford should do the right thing and do a recall or fix the problem. I know its a big problem. I don't think it is fair to the american consumer to have to shell out that kind of money on a bad design flaw on apart of Ford that almost got me into an accident bad one time and when my kids and I have to go to an erupt stop. I don't tow anything and drive the truck like a car. This shouldn't be happening.

Exhaust manifold studs. Design flaw of the exhaust manifolds on the F-150 ecoboost causing manifold bolts to snap/sheer, which in turn causes the manifolds to warp. This is causing noise, and possibly exhaust gases to enter the passenger compartment. Ford is offering a fix under program code: 17M05 for the F450/F550, but is excluding the other "F series" trucks which suffer from the same/similar issue. The issue was noticed immediately after an engine misfire began occurring (which is also a known issue). The dealership has quoted $1,400 to replace the manifolds and studs.
While driving the truck would jump gears after a few moments it would smooth out research the issue found there was a recall for trucks with T he same issue but was told my VIN # wasn't covered. The leas frame was the issue addressed after this $900 repair the check engine light illuminated codes suggested turbo and tune was needed these situations was not happening prior to the previous mention repair.

Koons Ford (6970 security blvd, baltimore, md 21244, (410) 298-3800) was contacted for a second opinion on the original diagnostic results. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
The entire time I have owned this vehicle it would occasionally have the shuttering and power loss effect till it went 5000 passed my extended warranty and then engine imploded. So they just blow it off as a common issue but now they want me to pay 10000 for a new engine for a problem they always knew about.
The timing chain in the engine gets prematurely stretched and requires replacement so timing chain failure does not occur. I had the chain replaced in Jan 2017 completely and the issue was supposed to be completely resolved. 1 year later the same issue is back and the chain needs to be replaced again. It is a loud rattling noise that occurs on start up and can cause complete engine failure. Several hundreds of complaints can be found about this well known issue. Ford refuses to acknowledge it. The early model 3.5L ecoboost engines are causing the stretching of the timing chain and a recall needs to be placed on them to ensure customer safety
Multiple occurrences of shudder/jerking on 3.5L ecoboost engine; exact symptoms as described in NHTSA id#10051923, 10052207, 10053407, 10052790, 10052788, 10058096, and 10058115. All of these investigations have been closed with Ford issuing tsb's, but dealers claim ignorance, ignore copies of the tsbs and refuse to perform repairs under drivetrain warranty. This is a safety problem as failure to accelerate entering an interstate highway has almost cost me two collisions. Apparently NHTSA is as useful on complaints/investigations as fcc is on do not call list complaints. Opened a case with Ford, response is they cannot force dealers to perform tsbs under warranty. All three occurrences of this problem were after driving at highway speeds for a minimum of two hours in damp conditions under hard acceleration; two were when re-entering highway from left lane service areas in NJ and md. After 1st two times a dealer in md replaced two ignition coils at my expense claiming coils were not covered by drivetrain warranty. Most recent occurrence was 1/1/18, local dealer in nh ignored Ford tsb 12-10-19 when given a copy and said "these trucks just burn coils and spark plugs". I was charged a diagnostic fee again and nothing was replaced/fixed as I refused to pay approx. $600 to replace drivetrain parts.
Cold starts create rattle in engine area. Ford tsb 16-0027 covers this problem but the dealer, dick witham Ford in waterloo, Iowa continues to play games with covering this issue. Truck has been in several times for other issues, some covered, and I asked if there were bulletins about lag in acceleration or other things that may cause this. They told me multiple times, no, just a computer reprogram that I already had completed. Now my truck is making noise and by all reports on the web, it's going to get worse. Ford knew about this going back to August 19, 2015 (see tsb 15-0131) yet never told me or looked at my truck to see if that was causing my issue. Now with my truck just over 5 year old but still well under the warranty for miles, it may not be covered. However, the new tsb clearly states dealer coding 6C525 and condition code 42, it is under warranty via the emissions. This is my 5th new Ford truck over the years, I will not own another. With the price we pay for brand new cars and trucks the manufacturer must be held to what they promise the consumer. This is a timing chain stretch issue caused by poor design and the variable camshaft timing (vct) units leaking causing timing chain damage. Ford's fault, not mine.
My truck does two things, both with the transmission. 1rst this is random and happens at any unsuspecting time and at all speeds. The truck goes into limp mode (killing all power) starts to clunk in and out of gears to the point it locked up the tires once going 55 mph for a second as this is happening my mph needle goes to 0, also the wrench light comes on. The other problem is random as well. The truck displays the airbag light while driving along, the transmission will get stuck in third and won't shift, some times it gets stuck in first and never make it up to 6th gear it will eventually shift through the gears as this is happening the miles, avg fuel display goes to all blanks. Both very unsafe and very scary, as I don't know when it will happen. I will not put my daughter in the vehicle until I feel it's save to do so.
