inaccurate speedometer inaccurate speedometer

Happened while my wife was driving, displayed 70 and she was doing 40mph. When parked analog speedometer was stuck at 30. A week later still reflect 30mph parked but reduced by 5mph with each start after driving. Called local dealer and they never heard of the problem but could get me in that day. Speedometer returned to 0 by the end of day. Left the truck with dealer the next week and they were unable to find anything wrong. No one can explain how or if this would be covered once warranty is up.

F-150 XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

When I got back from a trip at the beach I took it by Dick Smith Ford on Two Notch Rd Columbia, SC told sales person and Service Rep when driving in, he replied all the late model 2015 are having this problem and there is not a solution. Later I called Ford and a Lady at Corp told me the same she said she made note of it.

Would rather use the Round than the digital stand out more if you may go a little over, course if you cover the ticket and insurance send me certified letter stating it.

Do love the truck!

Thanks,

Ben

reset gauges using the gauge test in engineering test mode

Dealership did this the first time it happened, but of course told me they did a much more exhaustive software update to the truck. To enter engineering mode, just hold down the OK button when starting the truck, when you release it will go to gauge tests first and automatically start test. Needles will first peg to the left (0) then go to the top end before returning to accurate positions. You can shut it down after the test or scroll through to see various data signals from the various sensors on the truck. Found in another website that the actual fix is to replace the entire instrument cluster assembly, which I do not want to do yet.

Left it at dealership overnight, they ended up just reloading the software. Picked it up on 12/8, problem came back next day. Now being told to take it back in again for further testing, but of course no rental car or anything covered by dealer for my inconvenience.
