The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 20M04 (Power Door Lock Actuator Failure); however, the VIN was not included in the CSP. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the doors failed to close properly. The contact stated that the doors remained ajar while attempting to close the doors. The door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V652000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed that the door actuators needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Doors would not unlock with key fob in 23 degrees Fahrenheit weather. Had to unlock manually with key. Then door would not latch closed manually or automatically. Feels unsafe to drive because doors can swing open while driving and items or passengers in the vehicle could fall out onto roadway.
