CarComplaints.com Notes: The Freestar was introduced in 2004, but it was essentially just a rebranded Windstar. While there was a redesign of the interior and exterior, the Freestar still inherited some of the design flaws of its predecessor.

The rear door hatch handle only works part of the time. I've had it repaired once. Now it works on and off.this whole car seems to be a big rust bucket!

Freestar SE 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

Rear lift gate stopped working approx 500 miles after warranty over at about 37000 miles. Rusted shut, fortunately in open position. I had to use ratchet tie down to keep rear lift gate closed since to replace the entire lock assembly was pretty pricey. made it difficult to use the cargo area.
